    um

    …I'm on hiatus, obviously.

I haven't been motivated to write fanfiction lately. I feel like it's a habit I need to break out of, and that if I attempt it again, I will find it difficult to write original stories for months. I have no idea if that's true, but it's hard to shake that feeling.

    Obama Returns Act I Done

Act I of Obama Returns is now done. There may be some pacing issues, but for the moment, I'm going to leave them be.

Because it's at this point that shit gets real.

I've been holding this back for a while, but if there's any time to reveal it, it's now.

...working out great, isn't it? :(

Well, I'm out of school now, so you can actually expect stuff this month!

    Probably.

    Maybe.

If I don't get anything out this month, I'm an idiot. :|

Obama Returns Act I Done · 2:11am Jul 11th, 2016

Act I of Obama Returns is now done. There may be some pacing issues, but for the moment, I'm going to leave them be.

Because it's at this point that shit gets real.

I've been holding this back for a while, but if there's any time to reveal it, it's now.

The Obamaverse is basically a giant mystery series.

Everything until now has been presenting mysteries and clues to solve them.

Everything after now will provide more explicit clues, and answer those mysteries.

I encourage readers to remind me about hanging plot threads I may have forgotten about, because my goal is to answer absolutely everything.

There Is No Luna fans? Picture that story being stretched out for years, with just a big of a twist at the end, and with the ability to deduce that twist. There Is No Luna is just a compressed version of my normal writing.

I've had nearly everything planned out from the very beginning. Pretty much the only chapter I was outright fucking around with was the very first chapter of the original Obama story. Nearly everything past that, particularly after the retcons, is relevant to the larger plot.

In other words, the entire series has been leading up to Act II of Obama Returns.

Maybe I'm hyping it up too much, but I've been hyping this up for myself for almost three years, so screw restraint. :|

Anyway, this is relevant because I've been giving one of my prereaders, LeoneHaxor, some extra hints to clear up some ambiguous points. (My other prereader knows the ending already, so there's no need.) Since I didn't learn my lesson with the "FAQ" for There Is No Luna, it seems only fair to give all of you the same (and more!) hints as well—and in a long, organized list.

So, here we go:

Meta Stuff

Whenever I say really important things about the Obamaverse canon, things that I absolutely cannot contradict without the plot breaking, I will make them bold and red. (Yes, I took this from Umineko [watch that video for about five minutes and you'll see their explanation for it], both because I'm a fan and it's convenient to have important statements about the plot be color coded. :p )

In general, I will always explicitly say whether a story takes place in the Obamaverse or not. If I do not say it does, it is an independent work.

Although, keep in mind, this doesn't exclude the possibility of my other stories being referenced in the Obamaverse, because there is a special type of "canon" in the Obamaverse in which the events of another story roughly happen, but the circumstances and motivations involved are changed. For example, I might reference There Is No Luna in the Obamaverse, but the context of the story would be changed to it being an elaborate prank by Celestia. Basically the same events would happen, but the character of those events would change. That's how the show episodes, My Little Dashie, and a bunch of the other stories I wantonly referenced in the original Obama story are canon in the Obamaverse as well. (I realize this is sort of confusing, and sort of a cover for lazy writing. That's why there's been less crossovers lately.)

LeoneHaxor's crossover contains important foreshadowing to future events in the Obamaverse.

Due to some lucky shots in the dark and manipulating on my part, LeoneHaxor himself does not necessarily know where all of this foreshadowing is.

Conventions

The narrator can joke, but never outright lie. There might be some places I screw this up, particularly in the original Obama story. Feel free to ask about ambiguous passages. I won't clear up the meaning of passages, just whether I screwed up the narrator telling the truth or not.

Characters, however, can lie or be wrong all they want.

All instances of fourth wall breaking have in-universe explanations.

Ambiguous plot elements

In Obama Goes to Equestria, the shapes in Ditzy's eyes are not pentagrams. If there is any narration saying she has pentagrams in her eyes that isn't fairly clearly joking, it is a mistake. This is because, among other things, it is important that in the first chapter of Obama Returns, the amount of points in Ditzy's eyes goes from four to five.

Immortals cannot shapeshift at all. They regenerate so fast they can't even pierce their ears or cut their hair. Their forms are 'locked' in a perpetual 'perfect' form.

The immortals' motivations are not necessarily "logical."

Ponies being referred to with human terms, such as "man" or "woman," is a meaningless stylistic choice.

Rarity is blatantly lying about being straight, and is really bisexual.

Big hints

There is enough information to deduce who is running Corvorum Crepusculum and what their goal is.

Luna and Chrysalis are not involved with Corvorum Crepusculum.

Corvorum Crepusculum is comprised entirely of mortal beings. (Scootaloo never counted.)

The largest plot twist in the series has been said quite directly. (I confirmed this with my other prereader, thinking this might be up to interpretation. We both reached the conclusion it's pretty clear.)

This plot twist hinges on a quantity that I have not named once.

Hope those help, and I look forward to seeing crazy theories about the plot. Keep in mind, though, if you can't cite specific passages from the story as evidence for your theory, you're probably on the wrong track. I likely won't confirm or deny anything until the very end, though :p

Also, just warning you, it might be a bit until Act II starts up. While I have a lot of the plot planned out, I leave a lot of little things to the last minute. And I think the original Sweetie Belle arc is a pretty good indicator of what happens when I try to follow my plan too closely, even when it doesn't make much sense anymore. :(

Thank you for all of your support, everyone. I wish the series was a little more popular, but I'm glad it has at least gotten a small but dedicated cult following. :p

Thanks,
a human

“These new learnings astound me. Tell me again how Pot Noodles can be employed to prevent attacks by interdimensional monsters,” Obama asked, mystified.

Clearly this is the most important part of the crossover.

Do you care if the comments here are used for speculation/discussion? not really sure if you have a designated spot for that.

I think that's actually a reference to a plot important part of this story, but unfortunately, that story's so long I forgot where. :p

I didn't really think anyone would want to speculate that much, so I had to think about that for a bit, haha :p

I'd say most speculation about the series in general should go in the comments for Obama Returns, since from now on, that's where the latest point of the timeline is always going to be. (Lavender Alicorn screwed that up a bit, but finally the series is actually going to be told in something resembling chronological order :p ) Also, seeing people talk about plot theories will make the story look less like a trollfic, which is some PR I think I need :p

If you have a question/theory that's so related to another story that that feels awkward, though, just post it in the comments for the relevant story, using spoiler tags as necessary.

I'd say comments here should mostly be related to asking questions about the red text I've posted. Although, considering that the whole point of the red text is to say something is true without revealing any extra incriminating details, you probably aren't going to have much luck with that. :p

The only hard and fast rule I'm thinking is this: please don't PM me with theories and questions. I likely won't answer them. I'll probably just post them publicly for everyone to see. I want everything to be out there for people to see.

I've jokingly thought of making a group for the series, which would solve a lot of these problems, but that feels silly when there's only like four fans :p
