Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

    Tyomnaya strana

Just as alicorns descend upon parched wastelands bearing storms and seeds, so too do kindly translators upon my horsewords. Dark Country's received a Russian translation by the kind efforts of

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

No more festive season for you. · 5:44pm Jan 6th, 2015

T'is the sixth today, and thus by tradition, we must purge all Christmas cheer from the world once more. Let the somber cubicorn assist in snuffing out whatever joy remains in your hearts.

But enough about the drawn-out death of the festive season. News - and a request - (and also a pretty picture because you're all worth it) below this fancy page break function.

(Artist's gallery here. The day I acquire anything approaching art skill of my own, the devil will don a wooly jumper.)

My planned More Most Dangerous Game Contest entry, The Motion of the Stars, is taking shape. Its opening scene has already broached the thousand-word count, and I'm anticipating butting heads with the fifteen-thousand wordcount limit.

I want to do this story well. But there's a fair few ideas here to grapple with, unfamiliar concepts and emotional themes I haven't written much of before, a lot to tell and condense. A few pitfalls I'd like to avoid. To that end, in order to mitigate my own incompetence, would any of you reading this be interested in pre-reading it, either as it takes shape or before its proper submission?

Grammar and general coherency nitpicking would be much appreciated, as would any thoughts or concerns you have on the story. Credit would be properly given in the story's description. Any effort that improves it would be greatly appreciated, and I'd be willing to extend pre-reading services in return, after The Motion of the Stars has been put to rest.

If you're interested, let me know in the comments and I'll ping links to the story's Google Doc in your direction.

Never!

The Santa hats shall last forever!

I'm not the best Preditor, but I think I'm pretty decent; I'll give it a shot if you wouldn't mind waiting until Wednesday.
I was the editor for Twilight's Inferno if past experience matters at all.

For what it may be worth, I wold normally dive on this, but I'm a judge ^^; But I'll accept it in future.

We can't all be the beautiful human being you are. :raritydespair: Keep the flame burning.

Gracias! No problem waiting. My working plan is to hold off until I have a more-or-less complete draft, and then subject people to it. If anyone wants to see and comment on it in-progress, that's fine, with the caveat that their eyes may melt from the horror.

No worries. I suppose remaining aloof and unbiased is the hallmark of a fair competition.

On an unrelated tangent, I have this massive pile of money, baked goods, and sexual favours in my possession. Lord, if only I could something - anything - to do with it all.

2704807 It's a tragedy to be weighted down with such things and just have no use whatsoever for it.

I dunno how all those dead sexy lottery winning buddhist monks can stand it.

A curse, truly. I can only imagine that they find some good and virtuous and handsome soul who'll accept their burden. Thus, the curse is lifted and the recipient saint may properly lift their unburdened attention to other matters. Lofty matters. Judgemental matters, let's say.

2704835 Very true, a pity we don't have figures such as the Yen Buddhists to aid us in such matters.

2704807
I will, nobly, accept your burden of baked goods, currency, and sexual favors. I am a lost soul, forever damned, but I wish to keep your spiritual journey on track. Perhaps I can redeem myself in some small way, and keep them from falling into the wrong hands. Think of the fillies. Or don't. That might be creepy.

(I like creepy.)

2704841
A shame. Also, a high-five for Discworld references.

2704843
A noble and redeeming offer, you creepy good soul. May your unburdened conscience guide your vision and judgement truly in the days to come.

2704887 And another high-five for getting the reference n__n
