So to those who haven't checked out the new story yet, here's the Gilgamesh sequel.
Now, I'd like to ask a favor from you guys. I hope this comes out sounding the way I want it to, because I'm not so great when it comes to expressing my own feelings, be they in written or vocal form.
The first chapter, in less than 24 hours, has received 58 comments. Normally I would be thrilled about that, but unfortunately almost all of them are part of what I can only call a flame war. I'm not even kidding, I think only about 5 to 10 comments are related to the chapter itself. Now, believe me, I'm thrilled that many of you are willing to go to the mat for me, to defend my stupid little dribbles that I write for fun. But guys? I'm just done. I'm so fucking done. I'm tired of seeing a notification that someone commented on the story only for it be part of this back and forth. Guys, this is the internet, and I think we've all been on here long enough to know that this doesn't go anywhere. Though a few of those who made negative comments on the story did them in a polite and thoughtful way, or at the very least changed them to something more well worded, the fact is people are going to write what they want to write. "Haters gonna hate," as it goes, and I would really appreciate it if the comment section doesn't descend into a 4chan message board.
If you guys love my story, if you want to help me churn out something good, don't give in to your desire to try and justify what you like or why you like it. Just like what you like and ignore some of the more hateful comments out there, and having a legitimate discussion with anyone who is willing to have one.
Although maybe this is just me not being thick skinned. I've never put out anything that's gotten the attention that the Epicness series has, as I suppose the more visible you get the more negativity you've got to deal with. Maybe this a just fact of popularity, however little I have, an is just something I have to learn to deal with. I don't know. Like I said this is all new to me. But, and maybe this is my naivety speaking, I'd really like this to be a story where we can all have fun.
And speaking of fun, I'd like to end this on a somewhat lighter note. The avatars of a few of the people who wrote negative comments have some rather interesting titles in their pictures, things like "Premium Faggot." Now there are only three reasons I can think that they are there.
1. They put it there themselves. I personally cannot understand why anyone would do that, but that's just me.
2. Someone else hacked their account and added them. If their account was added I think the hacker wouldn't done more than that, but it is kinda funny.
3. The moderators themselves added it, possibly due to noticing these users caused a lot of problems but didn't break any rules. I know this is incredibly unlikely, but if it is that is absolutely fucking hilarious in my opinion.
Hilarious, yep, it is.
If I weren't a lazy man, I would have partaken in that flame war and derailed it into a physics debate in two comments. But I am lazy, and as such, I can't be assed to things.
