Nearly There · 12:17pm Dec 28th, 2014
Well, here's some good news. The cover art is essentially complete. Just a tiny error correction for the artist and it'll be done and visible on her own gallery. Chapter One is also quite nearly finished and ready to be published. Chapters 2-8 are currently "clean drafted" with complete content, but need to be edited for good structure and flow.
I've been working hard to learn some decent writing skills so that this story can be much higher quality than it was going to be. Thanks, Bashfluff for pushing me beyond my limits. Without your help, this story wouldn't shine nearly as much.
So here's what you can expect to be available fairly soon! As in, probably 8 or 9 days.
:D Well this is exciting!
Eh heh. I worry that "tirelessly" might be false advertising. There were at least a couple of nights where I decided to look at it even though I should have been thinking of going to bed.
And so begins the insane hatred that Nyx and Fallout: Equestria get mixed into one ball of hate. Prepare thyself.

Heh. That was one of the first things I heard when I started talking to people about this story. But it's come a long way since then. A person would need to have a serious irrational hatred to hold a grudge against this story just because of that. Heck even my writing coach hates Past Sins because of it's writing quality and characterization.
I think there's a few things that will really help. First, I'm not using "Fallout Equestria" in the title, or the cover art. It doesn't immediately scream "Just another Fo:E side story". Also, it doesn't take place in the wasteland like 95% of all Fo:E side stories. It takes place during the very unexplored Great War era. Pretty much the best setting to do what I am doing to Nyx. So this plays out much more like Immortal Game than Fallout Equestria. There are adventures and battles and relationships, but the environment shouldn't trigger that Fo:E hatred some people have.
Next, for the Past Sins haters, usually they hate the way Past Sins was written, and they hate Nyx as a character because of how she was portrayed. I've changed her quite a bit by adding fifteen years of life to her which allows for a whole new outlook on life and a story arc that is much, much more mature than Past Sins. Hopefully people will like what Nyx has become here.
Also I'm not the first person to put Nyx in the Fo:E universe. This story actually puts Nyx in the Wasteland in a very, very, very different style of writing than I use. And she's pretty much got the same character traits she had as a kid.
2683579 I figured you'd already heard that.
And as to the actual story, #GetHyped, right? I'm gonna read it, because we have a distinct lack of Great War stories that are well written, and honestly, Nyx. I enjoyed Past Sins (to the point I ordered one of the books that was printed) and I clearly enjoyed Fallout: Equestria, and since I like world building and seeing people's imaginations at work...
Yeah. I'm looking forward to this. It'll be nice to be able to take a break from my 'Read Later' list (it primarily is composed of things that are over 100k words) and the travesty that is Diaries of a Madman.
psst...pictures aren't allowed in story descriptions.

You referring to the prereader's avatar images? That's not allowed? Really?
This story does it. Click 'More' and look at the prereader credits.

Haha... Yes, feel free to #GetHyped, because this is gonna be good.
This gonna go far beyond that. Act One is mostly drafted. It's up past 70k words and has probably another 20k to go, and that's just Act One. There will be three acts.
2684089 Yeah... But it's different when you can read it one chapter at a time, right? Less pressure.

Speaking of that, I'm gathering opinions about this very topic.
If I were to publish chapter one next week and then publish further chapters on a "when they are done" basis, how does that make you feel?
Do you, as a reader/fan, need regular, reliable chapter releases (like a tv show) or is it ok to sometimes have indeterminate time pass between chapters because life happens and I can't always write at the same rate?
2685040 Me in particular? I'm fine with it as long as it gets done within a year, or the author keeps us posted. Most authors post it on an as-done basis, and they don't get a large amount of hate, right?
(And I got like halfway through this comment before realizing I was typing in German so I had rewrite it in English.)
(And also I can hear my upstairs neighbors having sex... I sorta want to start blasting Caramel Dancin' really loud now...)
