You're behind? I just started playing Ruby this week, after being out of the game for near on a decade.
2638922 I missed the entire fifth generation, and am a year behind on the sixth due to lack of a 3DS until now.
(I also never actually finished any of the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation games, although I intend to finish my six-year-old game of Diamond at some point.)

Yeah, up until I finally got a 3DS and Pokemon Y last year, I hadn't really played ANY Pokemon games since "Pokemon Stadium 2" on the N64. I had also more or less fallen out of the Pokemon fandom entirely up until I learned of the Genesect movie and several of the Gen6 Pokemon (Noivern, Tyrantrum, and Aegislash were the ones that got me into things again).
So, what's your team right now? And, if you've already got it planned out, what is your final team going to be?
2639525 I don't have a final team planned out. I don't even know what all the Kalos Pokemon are. I'm going into this one completely blind, just like I did with the very first game back in the 90s.
Right now in the active party I've got...Fennekin, Azurill, Pikachu, Spewpa, Pansage, and one of the bird Pokemon, forget which. In storage I've got Panpour and Pansear, the other bird, Beedrill and Butterfree, Bidoof, Bunnelby, Dunsparce, and that bagworm thing...one or two others also, forget which off the top of my head. Basically everything you can catch up to Santalune except Zigzagoon. Missed that one, picking it up on the next route.
2639611 I would highly suggest, for your final team, you have one of the fossil pokemon. I won't tell you which one you should have, because I'm incredibly biased, but they're both really good.
