For my Halloween Update I'm proud to finally present the "Madame Jubilee's Barn of Lust" Bonus Chapter! Better late than never, huh?
Now why is this a Halloween update? Well it's not that the story is particularly scary. It's not even the fact that it's alluding to Nightmare Moon. It (hopefully) isn't that it's just frighteningly bad.
No, it's that this chapter was a NIGHTMARE to write. I mean, sweet Celestia! What was I thinking? Seven OCs! Hopefully I at least managed to please the people who offered their characters.
Writing a scene with nine characters, while giving everyone a moment in the spotlight and not making it confusing, certainly isn't easy. Another thing was my storytelling format, which I royally screwed up in the beginning. Initially Applejack would interrupt Dawn's account of the story periodically, for purposes of exposition and making a joke or two. It just wasn't working at all. I ended up scrapping that notion, so Applejack's view on things is just a framing device now. The one thing you shouldn't do in a clop story (or most any story for that matter) is to take your reader out of the moment. So I had to re-write those exchanges. Another thing was that I chose Dawn as the viewpoint character, and was thus restricted to her observations, since she's not directly involved. Hopefully it turned out okay, if a little distant from the events.
Anyway, let me apologize again for the long, long, loooong wait for the release of this chapter. Hope you all enjoy it!
What's next? We'll see. Right now there's a cup of spiced wine with my name on it waiting for me.
