Would it be completely unoriginal to make Blueblood out to be an antagonist in my story? I want some sort of foil for Arthur, but I'm having trouble deciding on a primary source of conflict, nothing really seems to fit quite right.

To me the whole story of King Arthur is chivalry. While it is shown that Blueblood does not act chivalrous in person perhaps in his private life he acts with honor. It could be that a person who is kind in person like fancy pants, betrays others trusts in private. It could be that you set up blueblood to be the villain and fancy pants as a friend but but it turns out to be the opposite

Hmmm, the above is similar to what I was thinking. I was thinking of one of those oh-so-polite Courtiers who seems to make an unofficial profession of being a High Society hanger on, perhaps turning out to be a cousin of the Flim-Flam Brothers, and its BB who comes to the rescue, as a helping hoof from one Royal to another.
