I'm working on it, but I've re-written these last few paragraphs a couple times now, and I can NOT get the interaction between Arthur and this new character to be fluid.
That movie is the DEFINITIVE representation of Arthur and Merlin for me. I'll definitely be giving this story a try just for that.

Lucky for me, I have a such a photographic memory, and having watched that movie so many times as a kid [seriously; I liked it more than Mary Poppins, another Disney film that had mostly live action with an animated sequence/collage, and had the same actor in it who did Mr. Brown], I don't really need to watch it [but I probably would anyways].

So... I think that the idea of this is pretty cool but um... Could you try to use periods instead of run-ons? Also, I suggest to you that you read "The Once and Future King: The Sword in the Stone", the original story of King Arthur, before you go a make a story based on a movie. I beg of you, please read it before you carry on. If you can't find it anywhere, I can give it to you. The book was great (if you don't mind reading)! Dare I say better than the movie! Please read it if you have free time.

I have read "The Once and Future King" And while I appreciate your patronage and view on the subject, TOAFK was more of an epic, while the Disney movie was a fun little romp, with little going on in the way of progression. Without the three transformation sequences and the wizards duel, nothing really happened in the course of the movie. But I digress. The Disney version is an interpretation, as is most of thier most famous animated works. Not truly representative of the original work, besides the use of Names and certain story points. I fell in love once more with the characters as they were portrayed, not simply as "Arthur" and "Merlin", but as this young, naive little boy who had much to learn, and this kooky old wizard with aeons of knowledge, not really knowing how to get him to learn, and overall bumbling through it with an air of knowing what he's doing.
All in all, I find that THESE characters would interact much more fluidly with the world of Equestria, and will be able to take much more from it than the original characters would have.
Once more, I thank you, and hope that I do not disappoint you with the end product.

I'm a bit disappointed that Archimedes and his snark stayed at home, the first chapter feels more like a prologue to me since it has so much in common with the movie's ending...

I wanted Arthur from the start to have interaction with the mane six, which Spike comes along for the rise by default. And seeing as Spike is the default "snark" character of mlp, I didnt have much hope for myself when trying to craft "snarky" conversation between the two. So I, like the fraidy cat that I am, cut him out of the story as soon as I possibly could.
