    My Opinion

    Hello, everyone.

I've been gone from fimfic for a while now due to things that have nothing to do with MLP or fimfiction, and now I'm back. I'm writing again, though I won't say on what since that usually raises hopes that I tend to let down due to OCD and other personal inadequacies.

So this has been irksome for me...

I've been ruminating on the community's response to Remedial Lessons for some time. While the story has been met with approval from nearly all who offered feedback, there were some comments that brought up portions of the story they didn't agree with. Specifically, the treatment of Twilight Sparkle and the nature of Luna's reaction to the guard's improper acts. I was excited to engage in

As a rule, I find what I do lacking. Having wasted many hours pondering this quirk of my character, I've decided it's a good thing. To me, it's not a lack of confidence in my abilities, but a standard for myself that is persistently greater than what I am; it pushes me to improve rather than scale a cliff only to sit on a plateau.

    Morsels #3

"This... how is this possible?" Twilight said. As the blaze of light faded, the creature began moving again. Its neck uncurled as it stood on thick, stubby legs.

"Twilight," Rarity said, starting to back away from the beast, "why didn't the magic work?"

Rainbow Dash landed next to Twilight. "Yeah, what gives? It worked just fine on Tirek."

It's this attitude that makes me approach these kinds of blogs with no small amount of self-loathing and second-guessing as to whether it's relevant to anyone other than me. After a bit of an internal struggle during which many lost their lives, I decided that if I'm going to post this anywhere, a blog is the right place to do it.

So, if you made it past the twenty-foot brick wall of autism above, I'd like to tell you that I finally got a story on EqD:

ChromeMyriad:
Thank you for resubmitting "Remedial Lessons" to Equestria Daily. I quite enjoyed the story and will be sending it up for posting on the blog.

I understand some people have mixed feelings about EqD and what they do, but my time as a reviewer and as a prereader for TRG give me some empathy for their position. On top of that, I feel that the presence of such groups is a positive influence on the community and the rare times I've personally dealt with EqD prereaders leave me with the impression that they're good people.

What this means to me is that my efforts haven't been in vain. It's hard not to feel like you're just spinning your wheels when you spend months putting together and editing mediocre one-shot stories. This is a tangible indication that I'm getting better despite my personal feelings.

TL;DR:
I made it on EqD and am happy about it.

In other news, I'm still writing Simian and a few other things I haven't posted yet. It's going slowly, but well. If you're wondering about the 'Morsels' posts, they're basically just me trying to practice and get faster at putting my ideas to words.

Lunar Gravity is something I'm still working on, but is proving a challenge. I never really had a clear picture of anything beyond the first chapter for obvious reasons, so coming up with a plot has kinda been an on-the-fly thing. I'm debating on whether to do a complete rewrite or to continue it as it is and construct it as a sort of episodic tale with a focus on the individual chapters rather than an overarching plot. Anyway, I still have decisions to make about it, but it isn't forgotten.

Other than that, it's business as usual. I'm still reviewing and such; I'm still moving forward.

And... that's pretty much it. Thanks for listening and have a nice day.

Oh! Well done, sir. Welcome to the hallowed halls—we have cookies!
So does that mean you rewrote remedial lessons after that review you got ages ago? Do I need to read it again?

I dunno about rewrote, but I did edit it significantly. I'm not sure when you read it, but I finished the edits about 3-4 weeks ago.

You can read it again if you like. :rainbowwild:

Great job there. Nothing I suppose beats the feeling of making it to EQD. Some say there new standards are unfair, I see it as something to overcome to prove that you're a great author. Wih that said, could you help another ASD out getting his own stroy to EQD? I'll return the favor anyway I can :twilghtsheepish:

Like I said, I'm still reviewing. If you have questions or something you'd like me to look at, I can now. I may not have the time when university starts up again, but I'll give criticism where it's wanted (and sometimes where it's not :raritywink:).

You'll find that having it on the blog will make you want to update it as well, since every update will give it even more promo.

Congrats on EqD whatever others say. I know for certain my fic will never get on there, a consequence of selecting the HiE genre. Still, glad you made it, your a damn good author and you deserve it. I hope Lunar Gravity becomes clearer for you, it is an interesting idea with many possibilities. I'm hoping for a sort of awkward romance with a distinctive feel good theme. :raritystarry:

2345806 alright, I got my story Elsa's Snowdrop that could be looked over for one or two more grammar errors.

Congrats! I had forgotten that I had edited Remedial Lessons for you along with Lunar Gravity. I remember really liking the way you write Celestia and Luna's interactions. I just saw Pascoite's review on Remedial Lessons and, as usual, he brought out tons of stuff that never occurred to me. :twilightoops: But again, great job on the acceptance at EQD.

Thank you guys for the support and well-wishes.

Mmk. I'll take a look.

2351213 Sorry to impose, but thanks for even the consideration. Once again, congratulations on all you've have done.
Even if you don't, anything I can do to return the favor?
