    My Opinion

    Hello, everyone.

I've been gone from fimfic for a while now due to things that have nothing to do with MLP or fimfiction, and now I'm back. I'm writing again, though I won't say on what since that usually raises hopes that I tend to let down due to OCD and other personal inadequacies.

So this has been irksome for me...

I've been ruminating on the community's response to Remedial Lessons for some time. While the story has been met with approval from nearly all who offered feedback, there were some comments that brought up portions of the story they didn't agree with. Specifically, the treatment of Twilight Sparkle and the nature of Luna's reaction to the guard's improper acts. I was excited to engage in

This One's About Me and Apologies to Followers

As a rule, I find what I do lacking. Having wasted many hours pondering this quirk of my character, I've decided it's a good thing. To me, it's not a lack of confidence in my abilities, but a standard for myself that is persistently greater than what I am; it pushes me to improve rather than scale a cliff only to sit on a plateau.

    Morsels #3

"This... how is this possible?" Twilight said. As the blaze of light faded, the creature began moving again. Its neck uncurled as it stood on thick, stubby legs.

"Twilight," Rarity said, starting to back away from the beast, "why didn't the magic work?"

Rainbow Dash landed next to Twilight. "Yeah, what gives? It worked just fine on Tirek."

Hello, everyone.

I've been gone from fimfic for a while now due to things that have nothing to do with MLP or fimfiction, and now I'm back. I'm writing again, though I won't say on what since that usually raises hopes that I tend to let down due to OCD and other personal inadequacies.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about something else. There's a pretty high demand on this site for reviews, critique and opinions from basically anybody willing to give them. There are several groups that provide this in varying capacities. I've been a member—and, in some cases, still am a member—of reviewing groups and fic-featuring groups and I have a problem. While I believe these groups serve an important function in the community, volunteer-based work tends to be pretty spotty. You can't force people to work hard because they'll just leave and real life tends to ruin any plans you have.

I'm not leaving WRITE or PCaRG, but these groups have standards and formats for reviews. Sometimes, I just want to chill and read a story without needing to critique it. Sometimes I want to make snarky comments that are inappropriate in a quasi-professional atmosphere—and I do consider the groups such. Sometimes I want to give an author my opinion on a story without having to tell them about the mechanical issues that I just finished explaining to the last guy.

So, I'm making a broad offer to the community at large: Choose one story of yours you want me to give an opinion on and I'll do so on my own time in my own way. It won't necessarily contain any critique whatsoever. I'm not interested in taking on additional editing work or being held to a schedule. I'm not going to censor myself if I think it's god-awful for completely ridiculous reasons. However, if you're desperate for comments and the above-mentioned groups are flooded with fics—as many often are for reasons entirely beyond their control—then you can send me a PM or make a comment somewhere asking me to read a story and I'll make a vacuous ramble blog post about what I think (unless I get bogged down in requests or bug out from fimfic for a few months or a host of other things that might prevent me from granting said request).

All this being said, if you want a legit critique with all the bells and whistles and formatting and politeness, then you can still request one from me in WRITE. Just keep in mind that I only take on a single assignment from them at a time and those assignments can last from one day to two weeks depending on [redacted].

Hey, welcome back! :D This story could always use more attention, if you can stand silliness.
