I’m no longer very active on social media, so it’s been a while since I felt the giddy rush of affirmation! :rainbowkiss: But since I posted my most recent story it has gotten over three hundred reads in under three days and a whole lot of comments. So color me dopamine and serotonin flush!

Another year, another story (part deux)

I’m finally finding some more time to write. I was inspired to finish writing this story by Bicyclette’s Sci-fi Contest III, but missed the deadline by 40 minutes (as they say, read the fine print!)

By the way, I began writing this story almost a year ago based on some real life events that many of us share ever since COVID changed how the world meets. I hope you enjoy it!

    Another year, another story

It’s probably not the best thing that I need the motivation of a group activity (Jinglemass) and a multiple-day-off holiday to get me writing again. But this is where I am, and that’s how it is. I Hope you’ve all had a great holiday season so far, and best wishes for a safe, healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Sometimes ya gotta just own your mistakes · 2:31pm Jul 27th, 2014

I recently wrote a three chapter piece for Obsolescence's The Most Dangerous Game Contest. The piece in question is called Mush Story, and I banged it out in a bit under ten days.

My intent was to have a go at writing romantic comedy. If you've read some of my previous comments on fan-fiction in general you are probably aware that I am not a fan of shipping, so this was a real departure for me. Looking at the result, I have to say that the haste in which it was written shows, and that it basically provides way too little scope of interaction between the protagonists to provide a genuine rationale for falling in love, let alone providing the insight into the impact of romantic love on the psychology of an immortal (or at least ageless) individual that I was also trying to cram in.

Well, I've decided to bite the bullet and rectify this. I will significantly expand Mush Story over the summer. But I would like some help from my readers: please send me the names of places that Twilight and Richard might visit on Earth, as well as some places in Equestria they might visit, all as part of their mission of setting up official trade offices on both worlds.

I will select three or four on each world and add chapters describing these visits and our two adorkable youngsters bumbling into romance in the process. If I select one of yours I'll include a cameo by your OC, or a canon character of your choosing.

One more thing: if you include some personal knowledge or favourite aspect of the place you recommend I'll also try to include it in the story.

Please help me finish what I started. I look forward to your suggestions!

Honestly, the first place I could think of that Twilight would want to visit once she heard of it would be the Library of Congress (I actually envision her excitedly going on about the Library of Alexandria until she finds out it no longer exists, then grumping and settling for the Library of Congress :rainbowlaugh:)

Singapore. Not only is it important to international shipping and banking, but it would be awesome for a date.
Dubai has oil, but their economy trades a lot of gold - something ponies might care about. Another luxurious place to visit, although the weather may be objectionable.
London is another big banking center and Twilight would probably go nuts over the centuries of history. Honestly, you couldn't go wrong with just about any European capital.
Los Angeles has the biggest shipping port in the US and the second highest populated city.

As for Equestria, if I recall, they've already been to Canterlot, Manehattan, and Ponyville. Fillydelphia, Los Pegasus, and Detrot all sound like large, important cities.
