    Been a while...

Hi folks. How are you doing? Been a while. I like to imagine in the great solar system that if FimFic I'm some trans-Neptunian object that only occasionally comes into view intermittently before wandering out to the cold antipodes of space to which I belong. Personally life has been the same. Some original writing. Glacial progress on Homelands, but its not dead. I'm going to be at EFNW in

    Feeling better. Also, an interview.

So my temperature is almost back to normal and I feel a lot better. Hopefully in a month or two I can get an antibody test and find out if that was C19 or just flu. Anyway, either way, doing better.

I'm also going to be doing an interview for the midair pony faire on twitch. It'll be on Horizons, Homelands, and Worldbuilding in general.

    C19, cons, and other stuff.

So 2020 sucks. It just sucks. I'm sick with something and waiting on a C19 test. Hopefully it's just a flu or some junk.
But there is something good happening on the 25th. Ponyfest Online is a discord con and I'm going to be holding an hour long discussion on character creation, evolution and development.

    and the website is

Yes I write Project Horizons · 1:31am Jul 8th, 2014

I'm that Somber. Went to Everfree and realized I need to be on Fimfic. Trying to figure everything out. Will post more later when I'm not on my phone. Somber.

I knew it!

I really hope you'll take a more important role on fimfiction as with your current status, writing one of the best (longest?) FoE fan-fanfiction. You really deserve to have your story here.

Sincerely, RoMS!

It is great to finally lay the mystery to rest.
I heard somewhere that you will post Project Horizons to FiMFiction once it's done.
That'll be exciting.
Until then welcome to the site (sorta)!

Yes I write Project Horizons

You do indeed... :duck:

...although I kinda wish you didn't anymore. As good as it started off, by now, that story has edged into the "way past the point where it should have ended" territory... :unsuresweetie:

Glad to see you're here, though! :raritywink:

Well, I'll be "that guy".

Could we have some proof of some kind?

Welcome to the clubhouse, Somber. Glad to see you around.

Will you be posting the rest of your fics here? Not just PH -- the others, too.

Glad to see Simply Rarity on here. Welcome to fimfic!

Actually, it is ending. :pinkiegasp: But it's ending the same way it's always done things: Slowly, with more extreme(ly well written) everything packed into each chapter than your daily recommended dose for a month. :pinkiecrazy:

Project Horizons has had more discussion than any other ponyfic, even Kkat's original FoE. And PH is over two years old. So, while I am sorry that you dislike the direction it has gone, the only person who gets to decide what PH should or should not do is Somber. There really is nothing more to say than that.

I still need to read that. Also, if you ever see Diaries of a Madman update, be sure to say something. It would be so worth it.

I know. I agree. Just throwing in my two cents, because I take every chance that I get to be an annoying, self-important dick... :trollestia:

And yes, individually, the chapters beyond the point that I mentioned were also extremely well written and contained decent additions to the Fo:E universe. As parts of a larger story, however, it was just too much. All those attempts to outdo itself, to push the characters beyond their already surreal boundaries, have driven the fic to a point where it would have to pull off something on an astronomical scale at the end in order to impress me, and after things like the "Mare Do Well plot twist" (something that I have yet to forgive), I seriously doubt Somber can do it.

I'll be very happy if he proves me wrong, though... :ajsmug:

^This. :trollestia:

But wouldn't FimFic collapse into a black hole if that ever came to pass? :pinkiegasp:

2266267

Definitely longest.

The original Fallout: Equestria was believed to be the longest fan fic written and PH exceeds it by far.

2280739

On fimfiction it would be indeed. But outside, there are longer fanfictions.

Actually, it may be beat by Diaries of a Madman.

2279739
That valid. I started Horizons very casually. I had a beginning, an end, and only a few ideas of what goes in the middle. Most story project I began I gave up on as no good, and I really expected to give up on Horizons too. But I didn't. Now, three years later, it's winding to its conclusion and I'm trying to bring it to a good end. If I could go back and rewrite it, the story would be drastically different. Maybe better. Maybe worse. I'd have used far less references. I would have packed the stories into more coherent chunks rather than blending and jumping about. I'd know the full arc of FoE. There's lots of things that would have been improved.
2280505
I hope I do. Probably won't, but still. I hope the ending is okay.

Having just recently gotten caught up with Project Horizons, I'm thrilled to see you moving to Fimfic (and looking forward to Horizons being uploaded here when it's done). Welcome!

Also, now I'll have to read Simply Rarity again. :raritydespair:

2280975

In my opinion, they are both at the same level (maybe a bit more for PH). However, as PH is in its final chapter, DoaMM might become the longest after the end of PH.

2280984

Wow... I must admit, I wasn't expecting this kind of response... :rainbowderp:

Guess that makes me a horrible person... :derpytongue2:

Anyway, let it not be said that I wish to imply that PH is a bad fic. Despite all of my misgivings, I still think it's a top-tier contribution to the pool of art this fandom has created. All I wanted to say is that I'm worried about it. There's another "old classic" that I will not name (I've had a go at enough fics for now) that started off as a sublime experience, then gradually got worse and worse, and ended on such a pathetic note that I actually grew to dislike it.

I'd hate to see the same happen to PH. On their own, the small story arcs it gets sidetracked into are done very well, but as a whole, it feels like it should be two or three separate stories instead of a single one at this point, and with the enormous amount of wear and tear the main characters have gone through, I fear that any further blows to their spirit would just be forcing it.

All that said, I'm still looking forward to the ending, and I still have high hopes for this story (as if me ranting about it so much wasn't evidence enough), though I'll most likely read it only once I'm certain the story is completed... :ajsmug:

And to give credit where credit is due, you are most likely the #1 reason why I started to write MLP fanfics in the first place (more specifically: the things that frustrated me about your works encouraged me to want to "do better"... :trollestia:) Whatever nonsense I blather about here, at the end of the day, I still owe it all to you.

Thank you for your attention, and keep up the good work!

I'm just wondering, if you have an account for this website, why isn't Project Horizons on here as well? If you're worried that people won't read it, you have nothing to fear. Recently Kkat put Fallout: Equestria on Fimfiction and she's already gotten over 14,000 views! Couldn't you just, I don't know, copy and paste Project Horizons over here as a new story entitled Project Horizons?

Wait. You're the Somber?

Well, I learned something today!
