"SAO 2: Phantom Bullet" is here! · 9:05pm Jul 7th, 2014
Woo! Time for some more Sword Art Online goodness this year.
I'm sure most of you Equestria's Strife Online readers can agree that SAO was far from a perfect storytelling experience, (easily surpassed by the amazing Log Horizon in all but animation) but it was a damn fun show. From everything I have heard about the light novel though, the Gun Gale Online's "Phantom Bullet" arc and the later coming "Excalibur Quest", "Mother Rosario", and finally "Alicization" arcs all are supposed to blow the first two arcs of SAO from season 1 out of the water.
I for one adore the new opening of season 2 in all of its gunfire and lightsabre-filled goodness, and I look forward to what we'll see in this arc with Kirito's new girly avatar and the new female lead, Sinnon.
I do have a question for my dear ESO readers though; Should I or should I not introduce some elements of GGO, mainly a broad range of firearm Casts and the detection ring system into ESO? That ring system might be a bit much on top of all my own elements, especially since GGO's mechanics are supposed to create a sharp difficulty curve. Depending, I may just include the firearms without the rings, or I will just stick with things like bows, crossbows, and Twilight's TK-cannons.
So, thoughts anyone?
Where can I find the episode? I tried Crunchyroll, but it's behind a paywall for the next few days.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found a site. It wasn't bad for a first episode, but I wish more had actually happened. We had a villain intro and Asuna and Kirito talking on a bench. That's about it.
As for ESO, full on guns might be a bit much considering the advantage they would have over short range weapons and bows. The jump in technology might also be a bit jarring. You already have a defined set of game mechanics for ESO, so there's no reason to change it right now. Maybe Discord will get board and issue an 'update' or 'expansion' to the game later.
