Ask me anything! · 1:38am Jun 13th, 2014
I'm too exhausted to write at the moment, and I'll be going to bed early, but until then, and into the next couple of days, ask me anything. I'll answer. The answer may not be what you expect or want, but I will answer any and all questions.
It is
Edit: Currently watching PONIES, the Anthology. Because. Ponies. And silly. And crazy head tired thing.
does this song make you feel happy, sad or somewhere in between?
What's your take on the workings of Tartarus?
2202461
It's silly. Kinda sad if you listen to the lyrics...
Why do you close your eyes when we make love?
2202468 okay, how about this question, if you could have any superpower that you've seen before, what would you chose? I would chose tellaportation, I'm lazy.
2202466
You would ask me that when I'm dead tired... Um. Lemme think.
Tartarus isn't so much a prison as it is a pocket dimension whose properties make it easier for a single, not terribly powerful being, such as Cerberus, to keep watch over a number of prisoners. Time has no meaning in Tartarus, but the longer objective time that a being spends there, the weaker they become as the physical properties of the place draw off the magical energies that make them dangerous. This includes any ponies that might be sent there, or any being. Excepting that they are granted special protections, such as Cerberus.
2202471
Because it hurts to look into your eyes, knowing that it's our last time until the next time.
2202478
I would chose body control. Because when I could have complete control over my body, then I would make it not necessary to sleep until I want to dream.

Achievement get! 150-0!
2202501
Oh Romance Luna, you tease me so.
And grats on the 150. How many do you think you'll get before the first red thumb?
2202506
I have no idea. I'm just so glad that it has managed to impress 1/5 people who came to read it. Seriously, 790 views/150=5.26666-repeating read/like ratio. That's my best yet.
Also, when I'm tired, I get silly and emotional.
Two quick questions: One, do you think that the three pony races have innate attributes to them that are not really focused upon? Something that is either mundane or latent that it is not talked about or over looked. An example would be say pegasi having sharper eyesight than the other races.
Two, do you do any pre-reading? (Hey, you said any question. )
2202521 Actually, that ratio is slightly incorrect. I bet multiple readers, such as me, came back to read it again.
2202693
First the last. I do. Sometimes. It depends on how much time I have available, how long the fic is, and how thorough you want me to be or what you want me to focus on. Focusing on the technicals takes longer because I tend to focus on story first by default. Focusing on thematic elements and story, plot and plot holes is one of my specialties, though.
Edit: Oh, and characterization. I seem to be pretty good at understanding my characters.
Last, the first.
Certainly. Aside from better eyesight, necessary for flight and seeing things from a much higher perspective. Also, they're able to use that eyesight to see the faint cloudiness of a rising thermal impacting a cooler air mass (fog) and allows them to traverse the air more easily. Also, their feathers are attached to extremely finely tuned nerves that let them sense the slightest vibration in the air.
Unicorns, I believe, can learn to 'listen' to the magical ether all around, including the magic used by earth ponies and pegasi, because all magic exists on the same basic wavelength, but listening to the magic of other ponies takes a lot of practice, learning to block out all but what the unicorn is searching for to focus on what they want.
For earth ponies, I believe they, most of them, can feel plants, and can relate more easily to animals. My headcanon is that Fluttershy is actually the daughter of two earth ponies. She lived in Cloudsdale because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to raise her properly in an earth pony town, so they gave her up for Fluttershy's benefit, not realizing that she would have been happier, by far, in an earth pony village than Cloudsdale.
2202746
I suppose that's probably true. I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to read it multiple times!
2202752
I have had the exact same thought. Unicorns, moreso the ones that focus upon their abilities, can feel or sense the fabric of magic that envelopes their world. While they may not be able to fully understand what they feel, they can develop a sixth sense that allows them have a pre-conceived notion that something is out of the ordinary. Similar to that feeling that people get when they feel that they are being watched. Perhaps a unicorn's special talent is also linked to this sense in certain aspects. I'll use navigation as an example. A pony's talent in navigation could be further enhanced by this sense to strengthen it and improve upon their talent.
The true talents of earth ponies are perhaps the most vague of the three. The show often states they have a connection to the earth and they have strength to work the earth, but that is not really expanded upon. You used the connection to animals as an example of their connection, but I wonder if a connection to plant life can be similar. I intend to follow this idea in a future story, but I honestly believe the Earth Ponies could use more fleshing out as to their special latent abilities. They are often, unjustly in my opinion, as the lesser of the three.
You know, this sort of topic would work well with you Lore group. What do you think?
What event in your life brought you the most genuine happiness that you've ever felt. I'm not talking the giddy, overly excited happy, I'm talking the kind of happiness that just permeates your entire body. The happiness that makes you feel as though you are floating, lighter than air, in the perfect pool of happiness. The happy that brings such complete contentment, that you'd be happy just staying right where you are for all of eternity, and you'd still be happy.
2202885
I can't say that I've had that kind of a feeling, Z. I'm very down to earth. Usually. I am content. That's the best way to describe my life right now. I am content with what I do at work. I'm content with what I do at home, and I'm content with where my life is going.
It's not floating in air happiness, lighter than air or suffusing. It's... I don't yearn for anything more. Not right now. I am where I need to be.
2202898 I guess that makes sense. I'm not usually content. There always seems to be something that isn't right. There's always something that taints my happiness. Then, the other day, I felt everything slide into place, and I felt the genuine happiness that I described. Perhaps it's the contentment that made me feel that way. I'm almost never truly content, so when I finally was, I felt amazing.
Questions three. As shown in the show's finale when Tirek stole pony magic do you think that pony magic is easier to siphon from unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies in that order because of how closely tied the magic is to their natural abilities/bodies? Do you think that Scorpan will appear on a future episode of mlp? Lastly, have you seen a tornado before?
are you a night person?
2203113
Not anymore. Used to be, though.
2203028
1: Yes. (I'll elaborate later, headin' to work.)
2: Probably not.
3: Yes. From a safe distance (maybe) of half a mile away.
Do you take requests on editing stories, writing fanfics, etc?
I might needs an editor or two after have written my first two fanfics (Cake or not to cake and Pretty Pink Pony Princess)
Have you read the works of Neil Gaiman and/or Grant Morrison?
2203538
I have not, sadly. I read only some these days. Life and my own writing kinda took over.
2203430
Sometimes. It depends on the work, the amount of editing requested, the length and the content. I don't generally do sad, tragic, dark, or anything marked gore.
2203751 Oh. You should totally check them out. They're both mainly graphic novelists(glorified comic book writers), but Neil Gaiman did write the novel Coraline(the novel, not the novelization) and also wrote The Sandman. He is also the first author to win the Newberry and Carnegie medal for the same book. He's good.
Grant Morrison is a different animal altogether. He writes weird metafictional shit. His most famous work is The Invisibles. He's really good at non-linear storytelling.
Have you watched any of the Anthologies before?
2203926
All three. Multiple times.
2203948 What is your favorite skit?
2203964
Hearts and Hooves with the different voices for Sweetie Belle.
Or the Monk theme with ponies.
Hard to say.
2203028
As promised, going to elaborate further.
I think a unicorn's magic is easier to steal because it's the only magic that is actively projected outside of themselves. This can be seen as kind of symbolic, the way the horn protrudes from the forehead, but it's more literal also. It's the only magic that doesn't require physical contact to affect something.
Pegasi need to at least create a wind (indirect) to move the clouds, but are better at moving them when in direct contact. Earth ponies need to be touching the ground in order to commune with the natural world and the earth.
Unicorns don't need to do any such thing. Thus, their magic is also more vulnerable to stealing, disruption, etc, by outside forces.
2206343
So in a way, the easier it is to channel the magic outside the body the easier it is to steal it, perhaps by using the same path the magic travels from the body to the outside world. Good theory.
