Looks like I'm not ready for this... · 10:09pm May 18th, 2014
I've put my fic on hiatus until further notice. I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and that may take a while. During that time, I'm returning to my original account and will continue to write there. My original account isn't very well-known, but this will give me the time I need to repair my mistakes. When I return to my fic in a few months—or maybe a year or two—I promise I'll have learned my lesson. I'll continue to work with my editors on repairing the fic over that time.
For those of you who truly loved my fic, I'm sorry. I just didn't know what I was doing. Mystquestria will be back, but not for a while. I'm sorry.
There is nothing wrong with your story. Just as their was nothing wrong with the frist some odd chapters you wrote the frist time around... Their will be people who like your story and others who will hate it! That is just the way it goes! If you love your story you should write it!

It's not their fault you deliberately filter out any critique that isn't talking to you like you're a child (why you would do this to yourself I have no idea) and point-blank tell your editors no, you refuse to change the things that break the story. You don't think you'll learn your lesson because you never bothered to listen. That's the biggest problem you faced. And when push came to shove instead of actually listening to what people were telling you, you were thinking it was something completely different.
You need to work on your plotting, pacing and above all the Stu-ness of your self-insert. Giving him a weakness like a cluster headache just turns him into an author avatar. I know how bad they are. My father suffered through them for years then, like a light switch being thrown he was free and hasn't had an episode for literally a decade now but that's not the point. You are not your character and the less like him you are, and the more real you make him the less likely people are going to say that he's actually you.
Above all else, I know you have a problem with homosexuality. There's a solution to this, just don't mention it in your story unless there's a reason for it. There are loads of stories out there where Lyra isn't paired with BonBon. That's a fanon shipping, not a canon shipping. There's no reason to talk about it if you don't want to. Remember that.
And finally, in the end, it's your story. If that's how you want to write it, then that's how you should write it. But just like the first amendment guarantees you freedom of speech, it doesn't protect you from criticism. It just means you can't be persecuted in a public court for speaking your mind. The court of public opinion however is a different story.
