A quick update. · 6:57am Apr 24th, 2014
So, I'm hot in the rewrite of the first chunk of chapters in the story, and am getting close to publishing it as it's own story.
First of all, I just wanted to inform everyone of some things that will be changed in this version. It's going to be cut down in it's size, and the story itself will be changed so much, that it'll likely end up being quite different in several places. I'll elaborate on these things:
The first, is that 400,000~ words are a lot to rewrite, especially because several chapters are going to probably double in length. I cannot spend 3 years redoing all of what i have. Condensing the story will be best for everyone, from new readers, to the people that want to reread the whole thing.
Second, I did a lot of things badly early on. For example, I want the love/hate relationship between Dash and Alex to be a lot stronger, with a lot more sexual tension between the two, despite their arguments with one another. Also, I think I'm going to change the way magic is done by Alex, perhaps making him seem a little less like a god, by giving him a more interesting take on how he manipulates things.
But, just so everyone believes me, I have a picture to prove that I've been hard at work!

So, are you going to be continuing the original or is that going to be cancelled in favor of the shortanned rewrite?

No, I'm not cancelling it. I'll do chunks of the rewrite in between continuing the original. But, for all i know, the stories may end differently, with the changes i'll make to it. Who knows?

However it works out, please keep the original around. Too many times, people take down their old stories when rewriting them, but in this case you have a really incredible story already that should be seen in its original form, even if you end up producing a newly rewritten and condensed version. (Especially if you end up producing a condensed version.)
Also, please do consider coalescing the various side-stories into the main narrative, rather than having chapters that link off to the side stories.

Well the rewrite will be certainly interesting, especially, as you said, you're going to condense it due to its size.
I myself wouldn't mind even if I had to read 500k words once more, though it'd be pretty difficult on you and would be akin to a full time job if you wanted to do that
Definitely looking forward to this to see how it'll change out, it'll be a minor alternate universe inside the current alternative universe.

If you added the protagonist then the cover would look 20% cooler but other than that I think it looks great! :D
As for adding more tension in the beginning?
I LOVED that part, it was one of my most favorite parts in the entire story! So I can't wait to see how much better it gets. :D

Cool cover art. But when you rewrite it, can you keep the original up? A story like that must have taken a long time to write so it would be a shame to lose it all. And will there be Twilicorn at all in the story?

*Sigh* I just made the dumbest mistake I've ever made. I had an entire comment typed out here with my input of the whole "story might be very changed in some places" part, and then when I was using an example to explain my discomfort with that statement, it hit me that I was thinking of a different story entirely when I was making that comment, since the other story also had an OC named Alex, and they could both do magic.
Geez, I'm stuck between 3 "Alex" stories now. One that's always been an alicorn, one who was an earth pony but turned into an alicorn, and one who's just an earth pony, and all 3 can do magic.
