I’m sure I don’t need to talk to you about how disappointing Harpflanks and Sweets season three was. We all had high hopes for the show, but I guess the fandom got in the way. There was King Sombra who wasn’t that great a villain (and apparently the actor always recorded his lines drunk). There were more awful comedy characters, more strained internet memes, and an entire episode based around trying to court 4-chan.
It wasn’t all that bad though, just… mildly disappointing, and I don’t blame most of you for not even bothering to record it. I ended up using my DVD set as coasters, and I’m such a big fan I’ve got a tattoo of Lyra on my face.
Apart from the final episode, that is. I mean, everyone saw that.
You’re at work, talking to your colleague at the water cooler, when you lean over and mention, “Hey, did you see Harpflank and Sweets?”
“Ugh,” he moans, tipping his nose up at you. “I don’t watch kids cartoons. I’m not a baby.”
“No, no.” You lean closer. “I mean, did you watch it last night?”
His face pales. “Yeah,” he whispers. “Yeah. Do… do you want to get a drink?”
You nod. “I need one.”
And it wasn’t even a musical episode.
I really need to read this series don't I? Just like I really need to read Hard Reset and a billion other things, huh?
