    Halloween Misadventures II

Last Halloween, I posted about how I got my truck stuck in the mud and lost in Atascosa county, Texas on my way to my first ranch party without knowing what a ranch party was, and ended up spending what definitely went down as the worst Halloween of my life in a tree in 55 degree cold with just a hoodie listening to my 1989 album on my phone for about 3 hours until someone was able to sober up

Why Lack of Updates... 1989 and Archie

When I last posted, I mentioned I would have TBATS's newest chapter up before me and my friend headed off to Arlington for The 1989 World Tour. Well, obviously that didn't happen, and I didn't even go. Things have not been going too well right now.

Progress and Being Away From Home

You know, in my head, things usually flow a lot better. But, I'm guessing that's the standard for like 90% of the planet. Literally a month plus days ago, I finally made the relatively short move from San Antonio to Austin once I got accepted as a transfer student to UT. First off, the campus is amazing, the city is bustling, there's so much to do, and I cannot believe I actually made it, but

    Life Keeps Going

Hello fellow bronies. Yeesh, this month has been eventful. Put it simply, I've been in three cities all over Texas to try and scramble for some last bit of family vacation time before I head off to Austin, gone to Austin for orientation at UT to try and register for classes... that I didn't get, so that's gonna be an adventure on its own, and then went on my very first friends road trip to Dallas

Finally, A Break! · 8:01pm Mar 8th, 2014

Leave it to San Antonio weather to throw me a curveball with the weather on the first day of Spring Break with rain. But really, I do not care at all. SCHOOL'S OUT FOR A WEEK! Whoever said that 2nd semester Senior Year was a blow off semester is a LIAR! I've had nothing but work the past few weeks, but I guess it all paid off because about two weeks ago, I got some of the greatest news ever... I'M GOING TO COLLEGE! A good one too. My mind has been racing ever since, and I cannot believe how bright everything is starting to look after a turn for the worst a while ago. So with the break on my way, not only do I now have to scramble for scholarships, but I finally have some time for actually writing.

So far, the latest chapter of TBATS is near complete, and Thirty is still chugging along. I really want Twi's birthday to come out before the end of the month, maybe even sooner. But for now, TBATS's new chapter is the main writing priority, which I hope to have done before Tuesday, maybe even the weekend depending on edits. I'm gonna be honest, it was supposed to be a shorter chapter, like a little over 2,000 words, but one thing led to another, and I ended up with something longer, but I think it might add something to the story. Can't wait to see how you guys will like it. Soooooo, how 'bout a little sneak peek? Yes?

Combine saving up for moving out, packing, work, and drafting new material for said work, Stardust thanked Celestia for the nights when Cadance and Shining Armor wanted to hang out. Not only was it the perfect stress reliever, it was simply fun. It also helped that the love birds that were her friends were up for a place that didn’t have what she came to slowly despise on the menu. After so many weeks working with, seeing, and smelling them, veggie burgers and hay fries nearly made Stardust gag at the thought of having that combo for a meal. Even the scent of the now-deadly combo that wasn’t at her work almost made her stomach churn.

The three had opted for one of the little outdoor cafes by Stardust’s house. Celestia had raised the moon a few hours ago, and the stars had filled the night, twinkling alongside the full, bright moon, painting a perfect night to be outside. Not being one to normally notice things like the simple beauty of her surroundings, Stardust found herself strangely looking around and noticing things she ignored; the way the streetlamps cast their light on the streets, the swirling shades of blue and black in the night sky, even the blooming flowers in pots and the life they added around the tables.

For a second, she wondered why she began to look into these things until her reason screamed out loud in her mind; it would be the last time the three of them would have nights out like this for a while.

“Stardust?”

Shining’s voice brought her attention back to the ponies in front of her. “Huh?”

“I said are you gonna want another carrot dog?”

She stared down at her crumb-littered plate, and the little blots of mustard and ketchup still lingering the surface. “Nah, I’m good. Thanks anyway, Shiny.”

Shining turned his attention back to the pink princess sitting next to him, continuing a conversation Stardust paid half attention to.

It had been like that for the last hour or so. The three of them would be talking about something, then she’d drift off until Shining or Cadance would pull her from wherever she went. It was always the same thought that got her drifting off, and she knew her friends knew what it was. They just didn’t know how to breach the tender subject, so they went back to their meals or whatever it was they were talking about.

Stardust on the other hoof was not so hesitant or subtle. The clear avoidance of what was all on their minds was about as evident as a unicorn growing wings. “Elephant in the room, I’ll say it,” she said loudly, throwing her forelimbs up. “Shiny, ya leaving’ for boot camp tomorrow and we won’t see ya for while.”

Too short of a peek? Too bad. Just sit tight a little longer please.

In the mean time, in light of a recent trip I took with my school's music department, enjoy this pic.

I have the navigation ability of a broken compass. Of course I'm gonna get lost

Congrats on college. This story... I don't know how else to say it, other than it's amazing.

While the story in the comics was nice, it was - as they said - not really canon. You're story just seems to fit in more with the main story line, and you're very good at writing it too.

It also sits close to my heart, because some of the things Shining feels about joining the Guard, is how I felt when joining the Air Force. I'll be down in San Antonio in a few months. July 1st is my flight down, to be exact.

Keep writing, and even a damn sequel or something to this when you're done. It's too good to not have a follow up.
