Just a bit of teasing and status updates... · 10:04pm Nov 11th, 2013

For both my fics actually...

For One Pony's Curse, Is Another Man's Blessing...

A bit brief, but I think I've figured out a couple of twists for later that make perfect sense, but are so out of the left field that I'm going to make a short Gdocs with them just so I can prove they didn't come from out of my arse.

Oh, and the next chapter is sitting on 7929 words, but sadly need a bit more work. Sadly as well, none of it really works as a teaser so your just going to have to take my word for it.

I just want to add, that Trixie is just wonderful to write in first person. Every-time I get to write something like: "Yes, what do you want with Trixie?" Trixie said to those that dared doubt Trixie's magnificence...

Well, very nerdy parts of my psyche just get giddy.

And a bit more meat for Sufficiently Advanced chapter 3:

The woman’s neck broke with a sickening crack, her head almost turned one-eighty from the force I had used.

She screamed a silent scream, as no air would move from her lungs when she commanded. She died, slowly, as well as in agony and in confusion, from a blow she had not even heard coming.

I wasted no time, and pilfered the would be pirate’s gun. The cheaply printed pistol feeling oddly heavy in my hands…

I briefly wondered how many of my comrades, or for that matter, civilians, had died to the flimsy little thing.

The woman used her jaw to scoot over a centimeter or two, just enough to almost give me a bite as one last act of defiance.

I used one of the bullets to put her out of her misery.

“Good work, Chrissy!” a voice shouted. “Found a straggler, eh?”

I pressed myself into the shadows, the soot and smoke obscuring me almost as well on its own, as the automatic cameo from the smart-fibre of my uniform.

“...Chrissy?” A man stepped out of a corner, looking tense. Tears started streaming down his cheeks as soon as he saw the girl.

He barely had time to wail out half a no, before I put a bullet between his eyes. He fell to the floor spasming.

I waited long enough to be certain that there was no more coming around the bend of the corridor, before I snuck over and patted them both down.

Two combat knives, a spare gun and five extra clips of ammo was my price. I took a few tense moments to check the magazines and pool the ammo. It seemed the girl had been busy, because most of her ammo had been spent. In the end, I had three full clips extra, twelve shoots loaded into the gun.

And what pieces of both work and crap these guns were. Cheap plastic, rubbish metal and I swear the powder smelled as if they’de pilfered it from a fireworks factory... But somebody on the pirates side had at least half a brain… and about negative two hearts, because the bullets were hollow-points. Perfect, if utterly cruel and illegal, tools for dealing with a training ship of raw recruits...

Heck, they even lessened the risk of a hull breach.

Utterly rubbish against armor of course, but what difference did that make when most of us simply had uniforms?

I swore under my breath. Dammit, why did the armory have to be on the other side of the ship?

All I had on this end wa-

A wicked grin came to me. It must have looked like some twisted Cheshire cat’s, the rest of me hidden in the gloom from emergency lights and my features darkened by soot.

With renewed purpose, I started sneaking towards the docking bay...

16654 word and counting, by the way. Yeah, it's going to be another long one by all signs.

And yes, that is indeed Captain Blake. You're going to get a couple of glimpses into why such a polite man has the nickname Black Blake The Butcher. Needless to say, the good Captain has something of a dark side.

Anybody that thinks Lawful Good equals nice, has simply not read enough Pratchett in my opinion.

Here's hoping you're intrigued by either or both.

You know what I'm frothing at.

as no air would move from her lungs when she commanded.

That thing
It should be

from her lungs
or
from the lungs she used to command

Chryssy, eh? Interesting.

Long? long is good....really good:pinkiecrazy:. Of course I skipped the teaser though, spoilers are bad for my health, way to high in cholesterol.:trollestia:
