Thoughts on Returning and Moving Forward

I'm sure there's more than a few people who lament, maybe even curse, that I pretty much stopped regular writing and updates of my flagship project. I wouldn't really blame anybody for those kind of sentiments - anger, abandonment, resentment, disappointment, and so on. I know there's also plenty of people who will quickly counter with the claim that nobody owes readers completed stories and one

    Plans for 2020

They say the difference between an amateur writer and a professional writer is that amateurs wait for inspiration, professionals sit down and get it done. That alone is why I've always considered an amateur and nothing more. Losing motivation to write has plagued me before, and its why New Sun Rises is taking so damn long to finish.

    An Update

With any luck, I think I can have the latest chapter ready within the next week.

Just figured I'd let people know in advance so it's not too sudden of a surprise to realize that I still exist.

And no, I don't have any real excuse for why it's taken me this long to get back to working on this. If there was a box for bad authors to sit in, I would be there right now.

    Long Overdue

Hey there people who might actually still care about this one author.

Guess it's been a real long time since you guys have heard a peep outta me, and it's probably high time I say something. Now don't worry, this isn't the much dreaded 'after careful deliberation, I've decided to retire from writing' sort of post. Things haven't gotten that bad. Yet.

Where I've Been · 8:36am Sep 24th, 2013

I realize my activity hasn't been high as of late. As I've explained earlier, I've had vacations and education stuff to take up a chunk of my free time. Well, the vacations over (Scotland and England were very nice to see...and wet), and the education stuff is progressing smoothly. A new chapter for Where Would Rainbow Dash is just waiting for my editor to take a look over it, and I'm working on the next.

Anyways, here is the stuff on my schedule at the moment:
-Education stuff: this'll keep going until the end of November, though only October contains much 'real' work. Very dry stuff, but my job requires ongoing education
-Where Would Rainbow Dash: the ongoing project (duh). I'm hoping I can have this finished within the next 6 to 8 months.
-Daring Do and the Temple of the Alicorns: for those of you still wondering or waiting, I guess I should break it to you now that I won't do a 'story within a story' like my last major story. It was an experiment, but while interesting, I found it hampering my efforts more than bolstering them. The sequel to Daring Do and the Nameless Mare will be a standalone story, which I'll get to work on after WWRD.
-My Heart Won't Let Go: and my brain won't let go either. The second half of the story is more disappointing than a red-headed stepchild, and sadly hitting things won't make the situation better. So my options are either to ignore it, or take matters into my own hands and fix it. Work is in the preliminary brainstorming, but it'll likely involve me purging the entire second part and building a whole new story to continue what I've started in part one. I will probably work on this before the Daring Do project, as it should only take a couple of months to finish. The contest is long past, but I cannot let this blemish stay on my record.
-Clop: I started writing ponyfics because I wanted to try different things. The idea of writing something with a bit more...erotica has caught my interest as of late. It might be the next direction I take once I've finished with what I've already got on my plate.

-World domination: ...I've said too much...

LOL :rainbowlaugh:

Education Stuff - I was once in such a situation so no worries my good author =) Your education is your future and I doubt anypony here begrudges you that particular time sink.

Where Would Rainbow Dash - Yaaaaaaay!

Daring Do and the Temple of the Alicorns - I won't say I'm not slightly disappointed because I respect you too much to lie. HOWEVER! Having you explicitly say that it will not happen as part of Where Would Rainbow Dash at least removes the expectation. I look forward to the eventual story, if and when it becomes worthwhile for you to write it =)

My Heart Won't Let Go - I actualy haven't started reading this yet, but by the time you read this I will have added it to my 'read later' list.

Clop - This is relevant to my interests...;)

World Domination - What are we going to do tomorrow night Commisar?

Said possible clop is also relevant to my interests :)
Share details if you can share them :pinkiehappy:

Yes! I am excited to see you alive! You are the man who converted me into liking Apple/Dash, something that many tried and failed to do.

And then tchernobog won't shut up about how he was right. Damn you!

Personally, I think staying strictly to Apple/Dash in WWRD is better. It was a bit jarring as a first time reader to see the switching back and forth.

... Why did you all get me into clop? :raritydespair:

Don't suppose I could convince you not to read the second part? You can read Part 1...that part is great. Part 2 is just...disappointing. I don't feel it matches the quality of the first half.

1372340

Not much to share at the moment. I mean, I'm not very experienced in integrating clop as part of a story. I fear it will either become too...clinical sounding, or I'll be reduced to avoiding redundancies by using cringe-worthy euphemisms like 'love sausage'.

I'll need to do more 'research'. Don't suppose you have any suggestions?

1372440
O's stuff is top notch. It has been praised by several clopfic producers.
Wabbajack and clopnobog are also quite good

If you're looking for examples of clopfics themselves, I recommend The Riding Pony and Yes Ma'am (tag Dash, Spitfire and mature/sex)

1372523 Xenophilia isn't clop. It's poetry in motion that simply talks about sex.

That was the first erotica I read. I can't call it clop. It's too pretty.

And you can blame clopnobog for everything. I tease him all the time I'm going to write something stupidly erotica/messy with Apple/Dash. I won't. I did it once! The couple isn't for me. Best friends forever though.

Although a Twi/Dash/Jack...

I have enough projects for the next two months damn it!

1372554
Did I mention Xenophilia or something? Methinks you need to respond to Commisar :p

Also, AppleDash is best pairing :rainbowwild:

1372561 I made the clop/Xenophila comparison. Ignore my ADHD. I see patterns everywhere. :pinkiecrazy:

1372440
Can't believe I forgot to mention this. Wabbajack has a blog post with clop vocabulary.
Ze clop list

I'm very excited to see that My Heart Won't Let Go rewrite. That first really is excellent. If you can get the rest of it up to that level of quality, it'll be one hell of a fic.

1372758

Am I the only one who thinks 'wabbajack' would make for a funny euphimism?

1372440
I shall heed your warning and only read Part 1 =)

As far as euphamisms go, I think 'wabbajack' would be HILARIOUS and if you can make it fit into the story seemlessly, then you would win ALL of the internets.

As far as research goes, I would HIGHLY suggest you read [url=http://www.fimfiction.net/story/112521/destination-knownDestination Known, the explicit portions of the great romance story Address Unknown, Heat of the Moment, A Lesson in Preening, and Romance Reports. These are the best stories that integrate clop and romance, in my opinion, and are in fact the stories that inspired me to become a writer.

With your skill with romance, if you can incorporate clop half as good as they do, you will be the best author on FIMFiction in my eyes.

I did like the story within a story as it tied with the main story so well, and was sort of given with the title.
While I would like to see it in WWRD it is not as apparent of a connection as RD now stands a little more on the ground so to speak. I would expect to see some cameos where RD reads the novel with various levels of plot revealed. And it would be fun spotting those references in DDatTotA (or DDTA)

btw I have not started reading WWRD yet as I am in the middle of Background Pony atm.
