PROJECT UNIVERSE (and Arc 4, Chapter 5 is up) · 10:00pm Apr 29th, 2013
Ok, this is going to be a long post.
First things first, Chapter 5 of Dysphoria, Arc 4: Summer Breeze is now online.
In this chapter we finally arrive to the conflict in the story. However, I also put something in there which is the beginning of a much larger project.
I will explain the project in a bit, but it contains a bit of a spoiler, so I want you to read the actual chapter first.
Have you ready it?
Are you sure?
Honest?
Good.
Ok, so about this project.
About a month ago I began planning something which I'm calling Project Dysphoriaverse, a universe creation and public service project consisting of two separate parts, the first of which becomes active now.
Welcome to Project Universe
As you've just read, Dusk delivered letters to Rose from ponies all throughout Equestria who have been affected by the changes going on. After all, news of a noble transpony were a big deal and now the nation is having conversations it hasn't had before, all of which are changing the social landscape.
Such changes would affect not just transponies, but pretty much everyone. The trans community would be affected in having raised exposure and visibility, but everyone else, allies or otherwise, would have to adapt to the changing climate. A gay pony, for example, may find himself more accepted since he would no longer be the topic of discussion, or he may find himself criticized by those who don't differentiate and think gay and trans are the same thing.
As sons, daughters, parents, friends, coworkers and allies come out as trans, their sons, daughters, parents, friends, coworkers, and allies would also have their own stories of dealing with the changes.
This opens a world where a million voices could all have their own perspective and yet mesh to an overarching message.
What I want is for you is to be those voices.
Anyone who wants can write a story (multi-part or oneshot) regarding a specific oc pony (of your own creation, not mine) and a specific perspective, which will then be posted in the group I have created, Dysphoria.
Let me be clear, your stories would not have to be about Rose or my Dysphoria series, they would only have to be grounded in the universe. I've given you all a common starting point (with Rose's national reveal and the political/social climate), so as long as you ground your story to that, you can do whatever you want. The city, the pony, gender identity, orientation, storyline, etc, all that is up to you.
The group forum has posts on what I'm expecting and hoping, as well as a more detailed explanation of why I'm doing this. However, I can boil it down to this.
I think that perspective is the key of everything, and as real as my perspective has been, it is not all inclusive and it is not the only one. The more people we have talking and writing about these ideas, themes, and having these conversations, the more change and awareness there will be (much like in Rose's universe).
There will be other parts to the project, such as getting authors to write specific multi-part character stories (like Rich Rhyme and Perfect), and then the second project that makes up Project Dysphoriaverse which I will unveil after Arc 5, but for now, I'd like to focus on this.
Maybe I'm wrong and no one is interested, and maybe there is interest but there are other constraints. Maybe this project will go nowhere.
However, I feel like it has a chance and I think we can create something wonderful.
I hope you agree.

Interesting, I was planning on writing a a story this summer not related to any LGBTQ themes but I might look into this some.
I'll definitely write something once I wrap up the fanfic I'm working on now. Only having one class during the first summer session should give me some more time. I love the message you're making with this fic and the subsequent project. Kudos and respect to you.
Sounds interesting. I have a tiny story on the go I need to finish up but this sounds cool.
Are comics ok or is it just for Fics?

I think comics are ok, but make sure that it fits with the site rules (I'm not sure if they have a rule against publishing comics). Worst case scenario, we can have a forum thread where you can post them.
Cool, I only ask as it's taken me a month to write 6000 words of trans-ally perspective oneshot about Glittershell and Sweetie Belle spending a day together, and I'm still not really happy with it :(
Writing an OC could take me a very long time indeed.
I could get into this. Its a good idea and i love Collaborative efforts.
I recommend you make a Topic in the LGBT forum for this.
