A Solid Foundation: What Comes Next?

    Hey everyone!

If you’re reading this, then it means you’re done reading the last chapter of A Solid Foundation. If not, then you should definitely go do that first. Go on. I’ll wait.

I have some thoughts I want to share about writing this story and what comes next but, it all can come after the line break.

    So what's the next story?

If you finished reading Secondhand Laughter, then you're probably wondering what's next? Or maybe you're not. Maybe you read it and you're about ready for me to stop writing.

Well, this blog post has something to make either of you happy.

Do you think of me? (Poem)

Is it hate or is it disgust when you think of me? If you think of me at all. I wonder if the past still lives in you—the way it grips in me. Or did it die, forever long? And, if so, did anyone take time to grieve?

So what's the next story? · 8:15pm Aug 6th, 2021

If you finished reading Secondhand Laughter, then you're probably wondering what's next? Or maybe you're not. Maybe you read it and you're about ready for me to stop writing.

Well, this blog post has something to make either of you happy.

First, the story. I've been working on the last of my planned stories. It's called The Solid Foundation, and this one is a Maud Pie story. It takes place after Secondhand Laughter, about 2 months after to be more specific, and deals with Maud coming home from Graduate School to see her family over winter break.

While she is the main character, we will get some development on Pinkie, will see a bit of Trixie, and we'll even see a bit of Marble and Limestone, all through Maud's perspective, which is something I've been really interested in writing about.

Or I was.

See, that's the second thing. I'm only two out of five chapters in. I've got the whole story outlined, but I'm struggling to actually write it.

I don't even have the cover art done, even though I know exactly what I want it to be and how to shoot it. I don't have a plan for what to do after the story is done either, which is very much unlike me.

All that to say that I don't actually know when it will release. It will. I promise that. I will finish it and post it, one chapter at a time. But, I can't promise anything past that, and I can't promise that it will be anytime soon, as I want to make sure the whole thing is written before I begin posting. Last thing I want is another unfinished story on my record a la, Secret Style or Arc 0.

Anyway, that is all for now.

Thank you for your time and I'm sorry.

Take your time.
I know from personal experience how difficult good stories are to write, with personal stuff disrupting progress or some scenes just taking way longer to figure out than you’d like.
I really do like these stories of yours, and I know that rushing it will make it worse, though I and many other readers are willing to wait so that you can put out your best.

You know how I feel already but I'll repeat it here anyway. I understand why you might not want to keep writing, but it really is a shame. You're so talented, and I'll greatly miss your stories if you stop. But I understand you have to do what's best for you, so I won't try to change your mind. In the end, just take care of yourself.
