I'm sorry. · 3:30am Feb 18th, 2013

Okay, this is not gonna be easy, especially since we're on the internet and 'no one's wrong on the net!!1!!!!!', but...

My previous blog post was not written well. I am sorry. I went off the deep end and just... yeah. However, I still don't like the episode. I could've expressed that a metric ton better, mind. There are still a lot of unfortunate implications and how Twilight handled the spell was all kinds of wrong. I should not have swore at Twilight like that. She's my favorite Mane Six character. I guess what she did there just... tripped something for me. Like Pinkie in 'A friend in Deed'.

So, again, in short, I messed up in my little rant about why I don't like this episode and I apologize.

There was worse...

Aside from having most of the Derpy in this season, it was alright.

It's ok. You were just frustrated a bit. We understand dood.

Yeah.... you could have handled it better, I had to hod my tongue before I tore into that post and you (possabily saying you wouldn't have been upset if it was Trixie)... that was pretty out of character for you. Yes the episode should have been a two parter, even we who enjoyed it acknowledges that. That could have fixed some of the other issues as well. My brother gave me a interesting point about the episode, it may have been written as not just a season finale but also a series finale.

I do have to ask RK, was there anything in it that you did like? My favorite part out of the whole thing was Celestia singing and not really Twilight's final test.

no don`t apologize for that

841583 I can guarantee you 100% if it was Trixie, I would've been just as upset. I fully acknowledge Trixie's flaws, after all. And yes, it was excessive of me and I am sincerely sorry. As for things I liked... the songs were good.

My apologies RK, it was good thing I did hold my tongue then. I may not particularly like Trixie but I cannot let that cloud my judgement. *shakes head* At least I didn't tear into it about Celestia... accept my apologies and I'll accept yours.

The general conciseness seems to be that the songs were good and every Celestia fan squeed when she finally got to sing.

841560 yes, but I should not have contributed to them.

841566 Okay...

841572 thank you. But I still should've been calmer.

841585 Yes, I should.

841657 Apology accepted and then given.

841745
Very well we have an accord. Now lets get back to some happy things like the upcoming chapters of your stories.

841745 no your criticism was justified and there were no points were i could find a flaw i your logic

No worries. Though I was worried that you might start bashing either/both Twilight and Celestia over this episode with some of the things that you said. But I'm glad to see it was misplaced.

I appreciate your honesty and directness. You have informed my understanding of this episode and its impact on committed fans, and this is no small thing.

Like you, I worry about how the Powers That Be will affect our community, now that it has been noticed. I want to hold all of the Mane Six close to me, faults, quirks and all, and protect them.

You are a good pony, RK. Love and tolerance, aye?

841778 Yeah but I could've put it so much better.

841783 I'm not gonna lie, Harry. Celestia's actions in The Crystal Empire, Keep Calm and Flutter On and this episode are, for me, dodgy at best. But I did go overboard with my vitriol, and again, that was wrong. She's got a fairly good track record, after all. ;)

841795 I try. And I'll be here for season four, at least. ;)

841857
you don`t need to though if you had tamed your answer it would have been less honest i truly think that is how you felt at the time after smoking some weed on the other hand your reaction may vary

Unless there were comments on the other post that I missed, you didn't say anything that I found offensive. Strongly disagree with, sure, but you didn't insult anyone who liked the episode, and that's all I can ask for.

I'm glad you'll be around for at least part of season four, because I consider you to be one of the integral fanfic figures from rpg.net. I also hope it ends up putting this episode in a better light for you. I also want to say, thank you so much for not going the "screw this show; it's dead" route. *That* would have been actually petty, vitriolic, and poorly-expressed, unlike your previous post.

842427
You hate the episode, having not only not watched it, but having watched NONE of season three at all? I just... wow. There are no words. :facehoof:

846243
Simply knowing the plot isn't enough. An episode is so much more than just the sequence of events that happens. It's the expressions on their faces, the animation, the music, the words said and the tones in which the words are spoken.

Now that you've seen most of the episode, at least, I withdraw my facehoof. I don't want to drag this out into an argument, because arguments about Magical Mystery Cure are starting to depress me. I just want to say thanks for giving the episode a try. It's too bad you didn't like it anyway.

841657 I'll have you know I didn't squee at all. None. Zilch. Nada......Ok, maybe a little.

Also how I think the episode could have been improved was to have the coronation be a separate episode and begin with this.

fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/034/1/6/a_mare_never_forgives_by_glancojusticar-d5toyni.jpg

Aside from that, I actually like Twilicorn. It's pretty neat and I find it a shame that so many people rejected out of hand without even waiting for the episode. Because you know, character development and plot advancement is bad.

Not too mention the fact that Twilight was meant to eventually ascend to being an alicorn from the very beginning. Who do we have to blame for that little bit of controversy then? Try Lauren Faust. Originally Twilight was supposed to ascend and replace Celestia.

852012
Even the fans that liked the episode would agree that is should have been a two-parter.

I don't get the problem either, I mean we've been making Twilight an Alicorn since Season 1 and the moment it becomes canon it is the :raritycry: WORST.... POSSIBLE.... THING...:raritydespair:

852201 Well, I haven't. The biggest problem for me is how it was done. She gets an incomplete spell, does zero safety precautions or anything like that, casts it and then aside from the barest of glances around does nothing to check if anything bad happened. The mind boggles at the sheer irresponsibility of this. And it's not the first time she's done stuff like this. I like Twilight. I think she's a great character, but I do NOT trust her becoming a princess, nor do I think she deserves this. Not to mention learning Celestia's been manipulating Twilight and then basically forces her into the transformation without even asking her permission.

So, yeah. There's also the seven-minute coronation, too. That could've been used to help with the pacing, but nope. So, sorry, but this episode, for me and others, was bad.

852548
The way I interpreted it was that the spell autocast once read/spoken, rather than Twilight casting it herself. In her defense, from what I can tell, such a technique is no longer in common practice. On the other hoof, she IS a Starswirl fangirl, so she should have known that said spell might have had that trigger, and made precautions.

Now, on the whole, I agree that "Cure" was a hot mess. It needed to be spread out into two episodes to do any of what was there justice. Also, WHY THE HAY DOES GROWING A PAIR OF WINGS MAKE TWILIGHT A PRINCESS?!? Mind you, I was fine with her becoming an Alicorn. My issue was making her royalty.

...unless, of course, she was already a royal due to Shining Armor, and nopony bothered to tell her about it... :facehoof:
