Whoa ho ho! Don't press that unfollow/block/report so quickly, now. Let me explain.
First, one might ask the simple question of, "What is a faggot, Master Fluttershy?"
In the terms I am using them... I don't mean a gay person. Rather... just... faggot. It's hard to explain. It's not necessarily meant as an offensive term in this sense, but more of a form of endearment, or more realistically just used because the word faggot just... rolls off the tongue.
Now, as to why we are all faggots (but not all the same kind of faggots):
When I first join the site way back in Dec. 2011, the fan fiction community, and especially this site, was dominated by EQD. It's common knowledge that EQD (for fan fiction anyway) faggot prime central. Therefore, everyone who came over here from EQD is a faggot. I like to call us HiE faggots (or alternately EQD faggots) Don't worry because that counts me too.
Now, a couple months after I joined there was a giant influx of people who came by the hundreds. And they brought tons of shitty fics with them. Not to say that the fics were generally good before, because they definitely were not, but most of these people just added to the massive pile of shit fics, clop (which was hated back then), and HiE. I'm not really sure how these faggots got here, but I'm pretty sure word of mouth and the start of the decline of fiction on EQD only helped their transition over here. I'm going to call these faggots the second hand faggots of FiMFiction.
This continued for a long while. Clop was slowly becoming less hated, gore fics dropped off the face of the Earth, AbsoluteAnonymous rose to power, and most importantly, shipping was becoming the next new thing, like HiE before it. This great season is known by me as The Great Ship Storm. I believe that because of these ship fics, clop rose to power recently. Because everyone knows that after the big kiss... something follows. I'm getting off topic.
During the The Great Ship Storm, not only were there a lot of ship fics, there were a lot of good and featured ship fics. People flocked like crazy to these fics. These people who came from this time are to be known as shipfags.
This brings us to the final stage of major change: just recently. Oh yes. I'm talking about he rise of clop and final breath of HiE. HiE's death was kind of a relief in some way. It was pretty much dead anyway, but I think during this time is when it just spluttered for a final time.
Clop. Most of you already know my stance of clop, so I will not repeat worn melodies. People were just beginning to realize that, "Holy shit. We are not small anymore," and everywhere was quite rampant for a time. The TWE came in around here. I like to compare their dominance to the rule of Augustus the Great. Sure, they used unsavory methods to get what they needed (or rather what we all wanted) and there were some... questionable things done, but overall the empire they owned was in prosperity.
I'm going to be even more offensive than I have been for most of this post and call these people the clopfags. Whether or not they like clop, they thrived underneath it. It's kinda like how winds are named for where they originate, not from where they head.
Now, you may be asking yourself, "What about the people before you?" To which I say, those people are simply oldfags.

So, when you say faggot, you mean in the non-offensive terms of status, which 4chan does (even if they mean it offensively) like newfags or oldfags?
I agree with the death of HiE... oh how do I remember those times when even a turd writer like me could make it far with a simple concept about three males turning into ponies and making it into Equestria through means of spoiler. And to be fair, I'm still getting favorites from time to time.
Yet time moves on and I've myself moved onto new stories... but I still feel like I should try continue The Bond, no matter how poorly it fares in today's markets.
And i don't fit either.
I randomly came here a bit more than half a year ago after having watched through half s1 after discovering MLP.
I wrote a few storylines at that time (one of which are going to be published soon), but never posted anything. So i remained a reader until about 2-3 months ago when i posted my first story; Home Is Where The Heart Is
Then i recently dropped Defender, and now i am writing a 3rd story for the appledash group.
That means i came here in the change between secoond hand faggots and the start of "the great shipstorm", or as you call them shippfaggs. Hoever i never wrote at that time. I sketched yes, but that was certanly NOT a shipfic. It was more in the general direction of Adult rated dark fic.
Then we had the clopfaggs. There excist good clop, but there's a shitton of bad clop too, and i HATE people using sex to get a lot of free thumbs. Not because i don't like it, but because of a lot of people blindly thumb up clop.
What kind of faggot does this make me? A second hand shippcloppfagg?

Going to tell you a funny story. What really brought me into MLP was the haters. I saw lots of hate towards bronies on FJ, and one day one dude liked the "cupcakes". I had no idea what it was, but i read it anyway. I foun it somehow "interresting", and decided to give it a shot to see what they had corrupted. One episode turned to 5 that day and it took me about a week til i found this site. Lurked for 10 weeks, and then joined. By then i was totally a brony.
And that's it.
I'll read a variety of things(Including Clop because Internet happened) but my preference remains Comedy/Random/AU/Adventure/Slice of Life and of course good old fluff. I don't usually care what the ship is as long as the story is interesting or at least endearing.
I've been here since the late summer of last year and before that I spent a month reading from Fanfiction.com before I heard of this place.
