so, two things
firstly, to people looking forward to the new story (if anyone is); it's... coming along.
honestly i'm kind of afraid about this one. i feel like i've bitten off more than i can chew. my last blog-post was kind of a feeler in the water about what might come if i tried something... ambitious. the response was positive, but the problem is that the people who are following me are naturally going to enjoy the type of mentality i have towards writing anyway, so that hasn't done much to alleviate my fears.
it's shaping up to be a long one. i'm at 25k words right now, and i don't feel like i'm close to done. i'm worried that i should have been releasing this in chapters instead, but it's not my habit to put anything out before it's completely done... and i also feel like, if you don't digest the whole thing without having to wait days or weeks between chapters, you're kind of missing a lot of the message anyway.
but yeah. that's coming. it's one of the strangest things i've tried to do with a story, and i'm so hopeful that it doesn't fail. i mean, i guess that's a lame thing to say. 'i hope people like it'... you know. but i really do hope that it makes people think, if nothing else.
anyway
second thing; a couple people have been saying i need an avatar. honestly, i have no idea what i'd use for one. i don't want to just grab some random pony image, because there are a million of those already... but at the same time, i don't have any type of emblem or symbol or thing that's recognizably 'me'. so yeah, i dunno. if anyone has suggestions and feels like including them in the comments, i'd be appreciative. i have no idea what would be appropriate, and i'm really tired of seeing that blank pony face staring at me, so i'm willing to consider different possibilities.
thanks anyone who tuned in for doing so, and god willing i will have this story done before the end of the month. though, things might be delayed a little bit due to proof-reading.

EDIT: By the way, about the whole "avatar" thing? Whenever I see someone without an avatar, I always think "darf". I've seen you without an avatar for so long it's now ingrained in my mind.

Besides, I watch you not because of clop, but because of your skill at storytelling. I watch you for the stories of yours that have more to them than bare-minimum clop set up.
I'm eagerly anticipating what you're working on as you've consistently put out well written pieces of fiction and I have no doubt that this, while it might be different from what you normally put out, will be amazing

I suppose I ought to throw in my two cents...
I, for one, am really excited for this giant, ambitious story. I'm not really a clop kind of brony; I just have an unhindered, and probably unhealthy, curiosity. In other words, the typical clopfic doesn't really do anything for me. I've subscribed regardless because I find that you have a lot of writing talent and you generally put a lot more effort into your story building compared to the typical one-shot quick fixes that swarm this site. I mean it.
Even on the stories that I would consider short such as Miss Me?, have a good amount of exposition in the beginning to set the scene well. Then there's Twilights Decent. I actually found myself intrigued by the plot synopsis and even more intrigued by the long, logical buildup and use of show (rather than tell for speed and brevity). Honestly, I thought 'Why don't people write clop with more depth like this? I wish there was more.' Though, I must remind myself I'm not there to get off quick and soon like the majority of my peers.
Honestly, I know I don't really represent the whole very well, but I'd like to say that I really want to read these kind of long ambitious projects, and beyond that, fuck the rules. If you really are driven to do this, then do it. Don't let what people think slow you down. There are more people that will appreciate this than you think.
If I'm being honest, I'd have to say that it's more than a little insulting that there seems to be this assumption in many areas of this site and others that liking clop = liking nothing but clop. That one somehow lacks the artistic chops to appreciate things more sophisticated than simple horsefucking.
I like a lot of things. I like your clop. I like things other than clop, whether they involve sex or not. And from the sounds of it, I may like what you've got brewing next.
So that's my opinion on it.
Just go find somebody to draw you an avatar
You shouldn't worry. Fortune favours ambition and perseverance. And unlike me, you have those things.
And to be honest, when I think of you, I think of the blank pony there. The same when I see the blank, I think darf. So you have an icon whether you like it or not.
Although I will agree it's quite mediocre. Maybe you can acquire a superior Blank. Then again, it is very hypocritical of me to insult your avatar, considering mine is a sigil with a hat.
I will wait as long as it takes^^
