Chapters Revisited: 36/61, Major Changes: None, Minor Changes: Tons

So, did you know I do my internal quotation marks after punctuation marks? I just realized that I'd accepted the common fix from my prereaders, so I had to go back and check every chapter for things like 'good' and 'bad'." I know most folks write it that way, but I was taught in Newswriting that quotation marks go after . , ? ! marks and I never went back. I think "This looks 'cleaner.'" than "this version would on a 'page'." It was my fault for blindly accepting the edits assuming all of my punctuation was wrong, which to be fair it was. I also had to double-check to make sure I wasn't italicizing Labyrinthiyum, which I'd missed a few. After that, there was a bunch of GSP stuff that the internal spellchecker caught, but I just hadn't done so since I was sick of clicking "ignore" on all the pony words that were underlined. I don't want to add "everypony" to my word processor either in the event that I'm writing something in haste and I turn in work that has been autocorrected to say "everypony" instead of "everybody." That'd be embarrassing.

Luckily, the rest of the edits have just be minor wording changes. Since 33, the fact that each draft has been checked by at least two pairs of eyes other than mine shows. Every time I think about it, I have to again thank TheAncientPolitzanian, Jymbroni, and Alchemik as per the usual. I think if someone made a bingo card of my blog posts, me thanking the folks helping me would be the free space. I just feel compelled to do so every time I think about how much worse my writing would be without them. They are so generous for having donated their time to help me get stuff out of my word processor and out to you guys. I refuse to not thank them.

In other news, Atelier Ryza 3 is irritating. I wasn't able to break the game immediately which is good, but the world itself is too big for no reason. There are no loading zones between areas, so the major locations you go to are all linked together, but then so many of the locations have long paths to get from one side to the other. Trekking around the world is a chore, especially since leveling feels pretty pointless. Thankfully, I've finally crafted some good AoE bombs that can wipe out most groups the moment I encounter them, so I don't have to waste my time fighting enemies that can't hurt me anyway. Hopefully the team learned their lesson from this game because boy howdy is this game bouncing between good and bad for me. Balance? Good. Combat? Tedious. Characters? Engaging. World? Ugh... Not every game has to be open-world, devs. While my dumb side does yearn for more game when it's good, I'd rather have a finely tuned and tailored experience than an sprawling open world that feels unrewarding to explore. You have to mess up pretty badly when 90% of the chests I encounter are disappointing.

Also, I finally caught someone I'd been playing Discord tag with for over a month, so that's always nice. Looking forward to what comes of that in the future.

Anyway, see you in the next blog,
