EQG:SAO - Writing Style Improvements · 10:15pm Oct 7th, 2023

I'm sure many of y'all have read the comments (or were the commenter) about my use of formal language in dialog. Yes, I do write formally, then have to edit dialog. I'm getting better. The funny thing is that I read it in my head a lot of dialog informally, even when written formally. It is = it's; she is = she's; you will = you'll; and you get the picture. Editing the dialog to natural speech patterns when you read it naturally instead of how it's written is a very interesting challenge. lol.

My editor does a great job. New techniques on my end will be seen somewhere in the 40's. The process has us a good ways ahead, which is the plan. Comp Exam plus what's technically a PhD level stats class as a Master's student have me very booked up. I'm, not really going back to retroactively fixing dialog. No time. I don't even reread what I'm about to publish. It's been edited and uploaded to the site, so its ready to go with the push of a button.

I think I can safely say I have to Episode 114 drafted. 115 needs to be written still, it's blank, but I know what I want to do. After that missing chapter, I have first drafts to 139. Assuming I don't add chapters in between, which I keep doing. Just a few weeks ago, my editor and I cut up 42, making the other part 43, pushing 43 to 44, and causing a long chain of episode renumbering. lol.

There is a lot of fun coming up. A whole lot of fun.

I used to be one of those people so I can relate. And I'm sure some might question it again once the book I'm writing is done.

looking forward to whatever you turn out!

Well I'll be waiting. And my dude that one hell of a backlog that you have on this story.

I'm in a similar boat. Usually whatever story I have in mind comes to a standstill when it comes to writing actual dialogue.

I've had it half in my mind to offer dialogue help, if you were interested, for a long time to be honest. At the same time I still like my quirky headcanon about their stilted speech being a translation/language familiarity problem :twilightsheepish:
