Going to a con might have been just what I needed... · 6:19pm Aug 26th, 2023
... to get back into the fanfic writing game.
I might totally be jinxing it by talking about it here, but I also think me saying it at all holds me to it, in a way.
Or maybe I'm just superstitious. Many writers are. :P
Don't expect anything for a few weeks or even a few months. You know my way - I am a slow, diligent sort. But if the idea is good and becomes full, it'll be prepared.
Best of luck with whatever it winds up being! :)
This is a great argument to attend more conventions.
Also, you should apply for a writing panel at one. You give great writing advice, and that's just a formalized way of doing the same.
I mean hey, getting the muse to bite is a good thing in general. :)

You're too kind. But I haven't given any writing advice in a while, and I think my way of talking about it isn't always super accessible, ironically enough. Plus, I'm relatively unknown here. I like lurking - it's calming, in a way.
I had wanted to attend some of the writing panels available at Everfree, but I was late to Iron Author and I was too busy with other events to go to the other ones.

Fwiw, getting an approved panel is more about making a good pitch and less about having name recognition, or at least it was that way at BronyCon. If you already have a good outline of an interesting topic ready in GDocs to show them, and maybe already have some slides prepared, that's usually going to win them over. If you want to try sometime, I can send you links to the material we put together as an example.

That might not be a bad idea. I at least know of a few interested parties on my end who would definitely appreciate any suggestions.
