So I just had a recent discussion with the ORIGINIAL creator of Death Likes me Rough and they want me to stop writing the story.
now, many of you do not know of it but it was a commission by another authhor. I won't give out names because I dont wish for them to be harassed, but they want to continue their own version of it elsewhere or make a book out of it and what I've been writing so far is vry similiar to what they wish to write.
Ive asked for their true reasonings and they did not provide it and weve gone back and forth, to at this point it has become my own story with love and care. However they are in the right for a part but wont part on it with it on price and its not the most comfortable of prices right now.
So in short, suffice to say, Death Likes me rough is on Hiatus until I can resolve this. I have a few more chapters before that series is done but Im not sure what else can be done at this point. The good news with this however is i have been writing the DRAGON LORD'S GUARDIAN final book now and may release it early next month.
I am finishing the final chapter The blackest Night and wiritng a new fic for a contest before posting the next Dragon Lord title.
I apologize for those wishing to see another sequel for Death Likes me Rough but for now it remains unfinished. Hopefully I can work on it again before I am done here.
They want to write THEIR OWN story SIMILAR to yours and it's "very similar to what they wish to write". Sounds to me like plagiarism attempt. Do they even HAVE anything posted? Is it too in mlp universe? Do they PAID you to write this? If none of this is true - they can go touch some grass, because it's your story by right! And i may be missing some points here even, that others may pick up, but it is how i see it right now.

Indeed, this seems too fishy. If they wanted to write such a story themselves, why commission you and not just do it themselves from the start.

They paid for me to write the story, they sent me original draft and while not part of mlp universe, it's becoming their own universe. Suffice to say, it's an uphill battle.

Who knows. I got paid for it and now we both kinda hold the reigns so to speak. What happens is who bends over first. Im 6 7 chapters in, but because i had to cut down a lot it would only have lasted three chapters more.

You should probably link the original work. Mostly just because if this story was a recommission/commission to continue a story it might be iffy rule-wise to not link the original story in some manner.

I'd check with FIM staff if you can just ignore them doing this; since if they've commissioned you to write it - and you've done so past expectations, why stop? Unless you're using their storyline or something similar; they have no real creative control over it from what I'm seeing.

The original draft is very much likely, as hinted by your words about how many chapters you are in - also not as long or as fleshed out as what you have written? Moreover, this story has been going on for four years. (18may 2018) -> (8thnov 2022).

I have no intention of stopping but I am trying to figure what to do at this point. How else can I just leave the story unfinished. As for their wants, I am ignoring what isn't established between them. for now, I will finish what I can and then, see if i post it will they have me remove it.
I can only hope that it will be managed in a better manner.
