Regidar recently posted a request for links to experimental fics. I decided to just add a bookshelf, Experimental, and list my favorite and my own experimental stories there. (My stories will probably appear first, because I added
That most-peculiar book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, describes in Fit the Fourth how representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Philosophers, Sages, Luminaries, and other professional thinking persons confronted Deep Thought, the second greatest computer in the universe, when it threatened to find the answer to
Lots of cons have panels where people read bad fan-fiction for laughs. But they never have panels where people read good fan-fiction. So I'm going to propose one, at every con I go to.
Oddly enough, I'll be at the Writers Cantina in Salt Lake City. Half stress relief vacation, half "I wonder what this is" Just made our hotel reservations so hopefully nothing comes up and scotches the trip. Hopefully, I'll be traveling more this year than last, now that I have a stable "Get me out of here for my sanity" fund established, as my Disney trip verified.
It would be nine hours of actual drive time in each direction. That put it on the borderline, but ultimately I chose against it. Is it worth that long of a drive?
Oh, and one thing for those going -- they are strictly enforcing masks. Form fitting N95 or higher without a vent -- they won't let you in with a surgical.
I was just at Anthrocon, and even the furries are mostly refusing to wear masks, despite the posters plastered all over the convention center saying they're required.
Life is dangerous. At some point, safety becomes smothering.
I should be at the con. Unsure if I’ll be there every day or not.
Were you at AnthroCon? I thought I saw someone who looked like you in the FurScience panel, but he left before I could say hi. If he was you, you would’ve enjoyed meeting the guy sitting in my group wearing the red cultist robe and golden jackal ears.
5735728 Should I wear my orange & safety yellow airplane shirt again? I also have an orange t-shirt with a mandala in the middle (the mandala is, in fact, a diagram of the spike protein that the mRNA in the vaccines produces). If I feel like starting trouble, I also have a black face mask and blue t-shirt, both of which proudly proclaim: “Hug me, I’m vaccinated.”
5735778 The con’s policy page simply says you have to wear ‘em (presumably “fitting” means “actually covers both nose and mouth” if last year’s enforcement is any guide). I’d be shocked if they somehow decided to be stricter this year than last. AnthroCon officially had a mask policy but decided not to enforce it right before the con started.
I'll be there Saturday and Sunday
Yes!

Oh for fuck's sake. The con policy page says "Face masks (or respirators) are required to be worn at all times in all event spaces when in attendance at our event. In accordance with CDC guidelines, this requirement applies to all individuals over two years of age." What bullshit! The CDC guidelines say, "Anyone ages 2 years or older should wear masks in indoor public spaces when the COVID-19 hospital admission level is high." The CDC map of COVID hospital admissions shows they're low for the entire state of Ohio.

For me, it wouldn't be worth a 9-hour drive, especially with the mask policy still in place. The mask policy sucks the life out of it IMHO.

Does that require them to agree that everyone will wear masks at Trotcon forever?
I was at the FurScience panel at Anthrocon! I shoulda posted that I'd be there.

That guy probably was you, then.
