    FiO: Rebirth

I have the story completely outlined, I'd expect it to be about 30k words, staring Lost Legacy visiting Kimberly, South Africa in the year 2030 and interacting with the humans of the Outer Realm as humanity slowly dwindles on its last legs.

    One last FiO story

I might do one last (long, novel length) FiO story, just to tie up everything about Summer's Edge. If I do, it'll be a direct sequel to both Changing Tides and Third Wheel, following the Equestrian born pony Lost Legacy, who is disillusioned with Equestria, Celestia, and satisfaction, and so spends time in the Outer Realm (sometime in the 2030s to 2050s) to try to find satisfaction and meaning

    Changing Tides

It's finished! The story is completely finished, and simply needs to be uploaded to FimFiction! I'm not gonna lie, I cried writing the final scene of the last chapter, but I think it ends exactly how it should. I hope you enjoy it when it comes out!

Bring Me To Life · 10:44am Dec 6th, 2022

That's the title of the sequel to "Coming Out Of My Cage". Here's a hint of what's to come with a quick excerpt:

He didn’t feel that hurt. In fact, he didn’t feel hurt at all, only sleepy.

And that electricity. Mrs. Willow asked him if it felt like magic, and now he couldn’t help but wonder if it was. He’d never felt magic before– not inside of him anyway– but he imagined that if he had, it’d feel something like this. It was like his blood was full of energy, almost physically vibrating from how much energy there was. And yet, he was still tired. Weird.

Sleep came over him again, and when he woke up, he found he was being held in the purple coated limbs of the pony he knew was his mother. He was a pony right now, too, of course, evidenced by his own pastel blue coat and bright orange mane, but so out of it he was that he couldn’t even place why that would be the case. Wasn’t he just in the nurse’s office?

“Hey, sweetheart,” his mother smiled kindly as she used a hoof to push his mane out of his face. “How are you feeling?”

“Idunno. Tired, I think?” He looked around– he was definitely in a doctor’s office, at least, the waiting room of it– but still really couldn’t place why. “Where are we?”

“We’re on Earth,” a familiar voice said. “You turned the whole world into ponies when you used your magic for the first time. Now Princess Twilight has to figure out how to fix everything because of you.”

“Tracy, stop that,” his mother scolded his older brother. Then she turned to him and explained, “We’re in Equestria, honey. Mrs. Willow told me something happened to you at school, and I wanna make sure you’re okay.”

“Everyone at school said you flew into the air and made a whole bunch of lightning, like a thunderstorm,” his older brother said. “And then you passed out, so Mom wants to make sure you’re not gonna die or something.”

Their mother sent another look Tracy’s way, then told Quinn, “You’re not gonna die. Your teacher said you’re gonna be fine, and that she’s seen things like that all the time, but I just wanna make sure.”

Quinn didn’t think he was going to die. He certainly didn’t feel like he was, although the electric feeling he had inside of him was much more toned down now. He wondered why that was.

He didn’t have the energy to actually consider it, still extremely tired as he stretched and yawned while his mother carefully petted his neck. This was more tired than he’d ever been in his life. It wasn’t even after school yet, the clock suggesting he had another hour or so before it got out. He didn’t know what a magical burst was beyond the knowledge that unicorns had them, but if his teacher was right, then he could safely say it was an interesting and tiring experience.

[...]

“Hmmm. Well, as far as I could tell, Earth has no magic, but since you had a magical burst here, you should be able to learn how to do magic here. In theory, anyway.” Quinn smiled at the thought, but then Twilight continued, “However, I can’t do magic on Earth at all. In fact, as far as I know, no unicorn I know has been able to use their magic on Earth. You’re the only one I’ve ever heard of having a magical burst on Earth so far. There’s not gonna be anyone who can teach you over here.”

He frowned, and simply said, “But I’m not a pony.”

“Of course you’re a pony, sweetheart,” Katrina said, now making her own way up to him and brushing his hair with her hand. “You’re both a human and a pony. There’s not anything bad about it… is this still about being an animal?” she asked. “Ponies aren’t animals, and neither are you. Who told you that?”

“My friend, Luca, at school. He said his dad told him that we were animals.” Quinn wondered for a second if he should bring up what else he said, but decided not to. Luca was probably just lying about that.

“Well then it sounds like your friend is in need of a friendship lesson,” Twilight Sparkle told him. “And his dad, too, because ponies aren’t animals.”

“And Twilight’s the smartest person around,” his mother added gently, “so you know if she says it, it must be true.”

He couldn’t disagree with that. But still…

“I wanna learn magic on Earth,” he repeated again with finality.

And just to make you more curious, the first ten chapter names
1: A Song For Sleeping
2: Runaway
3: Real World
4: Come As You Are
5: Bend And Break
6: I'm Better
7: Dirty Little Secret
8: Where I End And You Begin
9: Dusty
10: Into The Great Wide Open

I'm probably 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way done with this... I wanted to have it finished for NaNoWriMo, but didn't... but soon it will be! And I think it'll be great!

Hmm. Sounds interesting. Always nice to see extensions of worlds like this. I'm looking forward to it!

Make sure you give it an editing pass before you start publishing, though (I'd say that to anybody). I did catch one or two things, like this:

his mother smiled kindly as she used a good to push his mane out of his face

I know exactly why that happened, but still, be on the lookout for them.

It very much will be, but not until it's finished, and probably it will be the same person looking it over as before.
