When Twilight finds herself urgently summoned to Canterlot by Princess Celestia, she knows something's terribly wrong. She's faced enemies far beyond her years but nothing could have prepared her for this. The skies have turned against the royal sisters. The sun and the moon have rebelled.

While racing to find the reason behind this, Twilight discovers more than she could have ever imagined...the story of Celestia's past, the ancient battles that have never truly ended...a darkness beyond all knowing that lies just beyond Equestria's borders.

As centuries-old secrets come to light, Twilight realizes that her new status as princess has bestowed upon her much more than just wings and a crown. Yet with each step closer to an answer, more questions arise. Why has Celestia barricaded herself inside the castle? Where does Luna keep disappearing to in the middle of the night?

Twilight always thought that being able to send the Princess her letters instantaneously through Spike's fire breath was the best thing in the world. Instant correspondence with her mentor and secret crush could never be a bad thing, right? Unfortunately, Twilight has a habit of writing her secrets down on flammable materials. Now her secret's out, so what's a panicky unicorn to do? Panic, obviously!

Darrilon has proudly served Princess Celestia for many years, and risen to the rank of Captain of the elite squad known as the Solarian Patrol. But every day is a new challenge when your superior officer (and divine ruler) has no respect for protocol or procedure.

Love changes relationships, though not to the point where they are no longer recognisable. Twilight loves to go flying with her marefriend, but sometimes... sometimes her marefriend can still be her teacher.

When Twilight went back home, she left Sunset Shimmer to the care of her friends. Thirty moons later, she returns to Equestria, seeking judgment for her crimes from her former mentor, hoping that some form of punishment - a stint in the royal dungeons, perhaps - will help her come to terms with the past. If only it were that easy.

Can a rift like the one that has grown between Sunset Shimmer and Princess Celestia even be closed at all?

A story of past mistakes, resentment, the possibility of forgiveness, and hope.
