Okay one more post about Breaking News and Weather then I'll shut up about it and get back to blogging about ponies and science...
Listing all the highlights of season 4 – or even compiling a definite ranking – would take forever. So many good bits... from the return of Daring Do, Flutterbat, and the epic finale; to the little details like the scariest cave in Equestria, multi-headed animals and the Crystal Empire royal train...
So I will restrict this post to commenting on just two best ponies.
Princess Twilight Sparkle
According to Arthur C Clarke's excessively quoted words of wisdom: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”. [1]
It's a nice line. Cute, concise, and sufficiently unscientifically defined that it can be either true or false depending on how you choose to interpret it.
I smiled at Maud Pie, wanting to start a conversation and make friends. “So... what is it that you do exactly, on your rock science research trips?”
Maud thought over the question before answering accurately. “We drill holes in the ground, and extract a core sample.”
“That sounds interesting...”
“It's boring.”
This week's blog post ran to 1500 words, so I submitted it as new story instead.

If you liked the rock cakes demo in Rock Farms and Nuclear Reactors, you might enjoy this.
I'm now off on a geophysics field trip.
Ever wondered how to explain primordial and stellar nucleosynthesis to six year olds?
No?
Well on the off chance that you are ever called upon to perform such a duty, let me tell you the best way.
Twilight builds a model of an argon nucleus.
