Once upon a time (about a year ago), I was interviewing students seeking places on a physics course. Among the many questions I asked them, was a request to describe how rainbows are formed. Most of the answers were rather disappointing. Few could explain why it was an arc shape, and some had no idea of the relative position of the sun in the sky. I concluded that young people evidently spend too much time in front of computer screens, and not playing outdoors. That night I googled 'physics
