After being banished by Princess Cadence and Shining Armor, the changeling race is faced into a desperate situation. Weak and powerless, they have been pushed into the brink of extinction. With nothing to feed on, Queen Chrysalis must find a way to make her kind live. A mysterious entity helps her think of the "Best solution possible".

When Twilight stumbles upon a mysterious book, she takes it and tries to discover what it is. When she finds out that this is no ordinary reading material, she placed on a decision to learn for a price. Will she accept and succumb to the darkening or will she be able to fend this temptation away?
