This story is a sequel to Bid Time Return

It's nearly Hearth's Warming, and Foggy Freeze is ready to relax, ready to retire, ready to enjoy the holiday with his wife and children.

He is not ready for Discord to pop up at his desk unannounced.

And truth be told, Discord is not ready for this either, but Fluttershy did ask him to apologize to her father, and what better way to celebrate the holidays with an attempt at a much better second impression?

“You really want to make it up to me? My birthday is next week.” The corner of Fluttershy’s mouth tugged upwards in the slightest of smiles. “You could… maybe… come up with something then.”

Discord has a new dilemma-he must find the most perfect gift ever for Fluttershy's upcoming birthday. And unfortunately, not only is he unable to come up with anything, but he also keeps getting distracted from other birthdays he's missed. Being a good friend is a lot of work sometimes... Takes place immediately after season 5's "Make New Friends but Keep Discord".

Discord is sorry. Fluttershy is sorry. They're both sorry, and they both need to talk about this, but feelings are hard sometimes.

Fluttershy doesn't realize exactly what she's getting into when she becomes the bearer of the Element of Kindness. Thus, when the Elements are used to turn Discord to stone, she is horrified and plagued by nightmares... nightmares of the power she wields but never asked for, nightmares of how far she might have to go, nightmares of a legacy she never wanted. She's going to have to take major steps to soothe her guilt. Befriending Discord is only the beginning, it seems.
