Gerhart, a wandering griffon with a full-metal spear, accepts a quest from an innkeep in an out-of-the-way village the whole of which is suffering from terrible nightmares. The source, it seems, is a unicorn wizard in a tower out north a ways and atop a barren mountain; a simple enough thing for one of his skill and armaments to dispatch, but seeming only as what dark spell has captured the village digs its claws too into his consciousness.

Night Light, cloak bedighted and armed with shield, spell and unremitting boldness, trailed a thieving dragon through the Badlands' barren immensity for several days to win back his beloved's wedding ring. Somewhere along his trek through the sea of sand and leering crags the dragon took notice.

On the heels of a harrowing vision, the Royal Sisters bring their capital ship, the Sentinel, to bear in defense of a colonial vessel adrift in dire straits, ignorant of the timeless evil their meddling might wake.
