  thoughts during a long shift

  For I am made to walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
  And none there are to walk with me.
  Sickness and pain ever more often my companions.
  And none there are to comfort me.
  Fear and despair abound as my enemies surround me.
  And none there are to stand beside me.
  Broken and weary, I continue on for a bit longer yet.
  Though none there are to support me.
  Indeed, as joy forsakes me and my hope now only for rest,
  I continue on for a bit longer yet.
