Star Wars: One of the greatest and most successful franchises in history since the original movie released in 1977, Star Wars has become an iconic piece of pop culture and still continues to this day to gain a mass following of loyal movie-goers, gamers, readers, writers, and artists. The ever-expanding lore and fanbase has yet to see a major stoop in growth and is closely followed. The first movie I can remember watching in theaters is Revenge of the Sith. When the saga came to a close finish, I was but a boy discovering his place in the galaxy. As I grew older, I began to learn more and understand not just the story told, but the way it portrayed itself. While many criticize the prequel trilogy and antagonize Disney for retconning EU to Legends, I nonetheless enjoy all the aspects in Star Wars. While yes there were mistakes made, I don't bash or hate the prequels or any of its content (mostly). As a child, I was taught to take all art and see the beauty of it and enjoy it how it is. This was my childhood and it opened my eyes to something greater. I can't help but love it from start to finish. From all the different celebrities used to build the galaxy, the one I want to meet most is the creator, George Lucas.
May the Force be with you, always...
Marvel: The oldest franchise on this list, the comic company can only continue to grow in many aspects. The different galaxies, realities, and universes explored is only the basis for their incredible work. With many different characters all with their own story it's a wonder how anyone can keep track of all of this. Heroes facing off a villain roster more than three times their size is bad enough. The different tragedies each character goes through tugs at our hearts and only tears them further when friendships are broken and we find our beloved heroes fighting each other. However, the romance and endless possibilities gives us hope and lets us know that no matter what, good will win and they will never stop fighting. Stan Lee has become a face we all know and love to see, whether it's a clever cameo in a movie, or a sneaky easter egg all over Marvel media. He himself has watched his wonderful creation continue to build up and give others a sense of wonder and excitement. Thank you, Stan Lee.
Excelsior!
Godzilla: The King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla had shot himself back into peoples hearts with Legendary's reboot, Godzilla. Once I saw this movie, it brought me into the world of monsters. I began watching the movies and reading the comics becoming more and more of a fan of our big lovable and most memorable monster. With a comeback big enough to spawn several cinematic franchises, no one can seem to get enough of Godzilla. Becoming a fan has given new perspectives that have enabled me to view the world and people differently. The sheer power he has possessed in his many different incarnations had allowed him to hold the title of king. Despite not being the first movie monster, he is without a doubt the most iconic. Across his 63 year reign, he has fought a multitude of different monsters each with their own abilities and strengths. The few times he has lost he has come back and put all those who oppose him in their place, underneath his foot. From his first rival, Anguirus all the way to the new sanctioned M.U.T.O.s, he has fought them all. Nature, aliens, robots, and humans have all felt fear at the quake of his step. After all, he is a god, for all intents and purposes. A monster.
Transformers: Transform and roll out! These words struck my heart the first time I heard them. While many will criticize Michael Bay for ruining (as they say) the franchise it was his movies that brought me into the advanced world of Cybertron. My thirst for the shows and comics is unending and has proven to be quite large. There are so many lovable heres and villains in every telling of the story whether it be the original '84 series or the more recent Prime series. Of course who could top my favorite character in all of fiction: Optimus Prime. That bass, booming, baritone of Peter Cullen can put most narrators to shame. Having such a huge knowledge quest for this really puts me into perspective. The Autobots will always fight the good fight; and remember-
