Something I've wanted to do for a while is to post the story I wrote for the flash fic contest at last year's BUCK. Unfortunately, we weren't given our manuscripts back after the con, so the direct approach wasn't an option. Instead, I wrote a story along the same lines, under the same restrictions. However, as that's only about 600 words, I couldn't post it as a standalone fic here. The site's suggestion for such writings is to place them in an anthology, so that's what I've done.

A while ago, I read a story by Bad Horse called Fluttershy's Night Out. It was a short story: three chapters totalling a little over 5,000 words. And without spoiling the plot, it gave some horribly plausible backstory which could help explain why Fluttershy is quite so shy at the start of the show itself. It certainly wasn't one for the "light and fluffy" category, especially for Flutterfans like me.

It's going to be tight, as a lot of things have crowded in on me, but I should still get the fourth chapter of Where They Understand You published by the end of June.
