Little Yelena has a stuffed animal the whole time. It's usually out of focus, but when she finally gives it up at the end of the prologue, you can clearly see what it is.

To everyone who has read and enjoyed 'a Change in Perception,' I just want to say one thing; thank you.

So a few months back, I used a DNA test to find my biological father. The results came back with a 100% match, so I found the guy and messaged him. Radio silence since then.

My wife got tired of waiting and messaged his sister. She seemed perfectly nice and asked a number of questions. We sent along the DNA results and also assured her that all we wanted in the grand scheme of things was paternal medical history. She said she understood and would pass everything along to him.

For the recent arrivals to the Followers, a bit of backstory. My earliest successful story in the fandom (and for a long while, my defining work) was 'Dear Sweetie Belle.' The genesis of that story came from the 2011 revelation that the man whom I'd known as my father for my entire life was, in fact, not my biological father. I used 'Dear Sweetie Belle' to work out my feelings about all that, and as a result I think it still stands as one of my stronger works.

It turns out Milo had a touch of hypothermia. After a few hours under a heat lamp and a few days of observation, he got to come home for real. Since then, there's been no issues... aside from my three year old not adapting well at all.

But that's just normal parenting stuff. Normal parenting stuff is something I can deal with.

Milo was due to be delivered on January 19th. On January 7th, my wife's doctor decided it would be best to deliver on January 12th. Despite my strenuous objections, the c-section was scheduled.

On January 12th, everything started to go wrong. My wife began to bleed excessively during the procedure. The medicine put in her epidural somehow got into Milo and he refused to cry. At first, he refused to breathe at all. He was delivered at 8 AM and my wife and I didn't see him until noon.
