Luna finds two dead humans in the everfree. She also finds a child and decides to create a journal to record her findings on humans.

Shadow is Luna's best friend. They have known each other for a long time. Shadow protects Luna and develops feeling for her. When Luna and Shadow get there cutie marks they know that they are meant for each other. To quote Shadow "this mark means I will protect you forever Luna".
