Childhood attachment and Adult behaviour · 6:17pm Jul 16th, 2018

I recently completed an amazing book - “When the Body says No” - by Dr. Gabor Maté, and while I’ve never felt more called out by a book for how badly I handle my own stress, it made me recognize a few things about early childhood development that likely would affect how my characters react to the world. Which made me want to blog a bit about it. I’m not 100% sure how helpful it will be for writers. But one of the things that always fascinated me is how early childhood events and things that we

Body Language and Nonverbal Communication Part 1: Anger and Fear · 5:06pm Jun 1st, 2018

Body language and nonverbal communication play a large role in what we are trying to communicate in person, so it stands to reason that it’s just as important in writing.  One thing that I’ve been hearing from a lot of the writers that I spend time with is that writing non-verbal communication is often difficult, daunting, frustrating, or downright intimidating to do well.  While I think some of it is largely due to overthinking on the part of the author (let’s be real, no one is

Speak Chapter 1 Edits and a huge thank you · 11:28pm May 27th, 2018

So RoMS has been the head of the Post Apocalyptic Emporium Discord server, and one day randomly offered to go through the first chapter of Speak to polish it. I know it's always a little risky to fix things you've already done, but about 90% of the fixes he gave me were grammatical (which proves that I did not deserve that A I got in grammar in college), but it helps the story flow and have less interruptions where you

Basements, Maternity Wards, and the Art of Not Talking About It · 5:15am May 25th, 2018

“Maybe I shouldn’t write about maternity wards.”  That was the statement that set off this spiral of thinking.  Out of context, it’s just a single statement, but with context about what was said, by whom, to whom… things get weird.  Which I suppose is fairly normal, but honestly, in the case, context matters. Which is also why I’m not going to give it until later.

EFNW Retrospective - IRL Shipping, friends, and learning friendship lessons in the process · 4:54am May 22nd, 2018

Ho boy! Everfree Northwest was this weekend, and it was one of the best, most emotionally exhausting things that I've done in about a year. The last time being last year when I ran the writing track in 2017. I volunteered as the writing track lead again, and then got to have the fun time of spending most of the weekend moderately stressed out while making sure that nothing in Twilight's Writing Room set on fire. Or stayed on fire too long.

Speak Chapter 15 · 3:29am Apr 13th, 2018

Is going to the editors! This took way longer than I anticipated, but I am happy that I finally got it done! Sorry for the wait, but so far pre-editing it's 14.5k words so... hopefully it's worth it?

Noodles and New Speak · 11:49pm Feb 14th, 2018

I AM ACTIVELY WORKING ON 15! I PROMISE!

I just had a very silly idea that was light hearted and shippy, and fit in really well with Hearts and Hooves Day, so I decided to write it. It was kind of fun to write something that wasn't super deep, but still explored some interesting themes.

I just wanted to let folks know I was still working on Speak! This was just something I wrote up in a sugar fuelled fit of insanity on Hearts and Hooves Day!

Hearth's Warming didn't kill me, 14 coming Soon(TM) · 4:44pm Dec 28th, 2017

Ooof. The holidays can be a difficult time for people. I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes Snowfall Frost's "Say Goodbye to the Holiday" doesn't seem like a horrible idea. At the very least, at least without them on Earth, there's far less world ending consequences (no matter what big businesses may tell you).

1900 views? Omg · 6:17pm Oct 22nd, 2017

Oh my my gosh. I know that 1900 views may not be all that much in light of big stories out there, but when I started writing this back in January, I was going to be happy with 4. Thank you everyone for reading and enjoying and occasionally threatening to duct tape me to my chair.
