11157252 Thanks. In my opinion, Neogtiations Xenolestia at least has sociopathic tendencies and narcissistic personality disorder as she committed genocide on two planets, brainwashed her student, pressured her other daughter figure into using a weapon she didn't want to, and lied to her subjects to make a imperialist genocide look like a virtuous crusade. A crusade that she refused to physically fight in, instead sending her sister to do her dirty work. All while still thinking she was somehow perfectly morally righteous. This isn't even going into the fact that she encouraged a goddess cult centered around herself, when she was an atheist totally aware of her own vulnerability. Healthy adult people or ponies don't do this even after a traumatic experience. Especially because if how she treated Twilight and Cadence was the norm, then her relationship with Sunset Shimmer most likely had an unhealthy component that got romanticized away.
11157304 It's rather telling how, after the Battle of Jerusalem and the unveiling of the Thalmann Generators, Celestia never fought on the front lines once during Equestria's brutal and humiliating reversals in the last year of the war. In the canon Negotiations-verse TL, she would fight occasionally against the human invasion force, but only clearly in situations where she can engage in a quick victory then a quick escape before the humans could bring their heavier weapons and Thalmann generators to bear, and as such, she'd only be a momentary setback to the UN forces right until Canterlot.
She did fight in the initial raids, but clearly during the times when the humans were still unprepared and uncertain as to how to fight the Equestrian threat, as was the case with Berlin and Madrid, and even then, she engaged with overwhelming force (two or more alicorns, a whole company of elite mages, etc...)
It's also telling that even though she's supposedly an atheist, she still considers herself a deity, and says 'suffering is for mortals' - conveniently forgetting she was just an earth pony filly a long, long time ago.
11157256 Considering she hates her human form, and she clearly considers the continued survival and reproduction of humanity an insult to herself, I'd be surprised if she didn't consider herself human, but just cursed in form. You'll note the only things that stopped her were her fears that the punishment would get worse somehow, and the voices screaming in her head until she couldn't stand it, not actual morality.
11157256 Well, she's an ex-pony and a vampire. Other than appearance, she's not really human, so it would not really be cannibalism. Vampires are not really considered cannibals even though they look like humans and in most stories prefer human blood.
OTOH, attempted murder of a child, yeah, she still has probably some centuries before she understands. Then again, she may never understand, just consider herself right and everyone else wrong, with the punishment being seen as unfair, since she did not do anything wrong.
11157256 Tell that to the Donner Party or the crew of the Essex.
Celestia is clearly going insane. The voices? The bloodlust? Its driving her deeper off the deep end and soon will make her feral as a mad dog. The fact she cannot die is what makes it worse and the fact she has no tether to sanity anymore. Interestingly she doesnt note Luna is gone or there is no mention of Cadance and Shining Armor as part of the chorus of voices.
11158728 Okay, that's certainly true. I think that was a combination of guilt at having gotten her sister killed and hatred at the idea that the humans have her in their filthy hands. I mean, Jerusalem was supposed to be a milk run; Alicorn and elite forces go in, burn down the city and all sacred sites, and convert as many people into ponies before escaping flawlessly. Instead, it became the biggest Charlie Foxtrot in Equestrian military history up to that point.
A strong, yet fitting punishment indeed. Especially considering she still considers herself superior and in the right.
How the mighty has fallen.
Serves you right, you arrogant b*tch.
It does not look like she's getting the message yet. I mean, attempted cannibalism? Even in the throes of starvation, no one considers doing that.

Didn't Celestia risk her life at least to retrieve Luna's corpse?

Pretty much, it's also obvious that Celestia did actually care for Luna, albeit in a very messed up way.
Good story
