All Wave and her friends want to do is colonize Equestria, rapidly build up a post-scarcity society with a population of a few billion, and use it to spread onwards through the galaxy. Luna is not amused.
“Knocked me up, for one thing,” I said. “Laying those eggs killed me.”
“Ha, I bet,” she snorted.
This was probably intended to be dramatic irony, but the ease with which kobolds can be un-killed makes what happened genuinely closer to Cinder's interpretation.
Somehow my charisma had gone *up*. What was the program even tracking?
My guess? It recognized that you meant "Harmony" but said "the Princesses" because the former wouldn't go over as well. Or maybe the amount of grooming you'd gone through, but I don't like that interpretation of CHA.
“Vast and empty sounds pretty good to me,” Nightwing said. She’d obviously been paying attention when I showed the others, because she brought up the avatar menu and turned herself into a harpy, then flew off past the trees to be alone.
She's going to try to contact Luna, isn't she? And we've already established that she can succeed. That is... less than ideal.
Squee. A good name for a green mariner, though it's a little stomach-turning to think of him in a harem.
There's something wonderful about disrupting the enigmatic expositor's air of mystery by giving her ear rubs and headpats.
The conversation with Nightwing is a fascinating case of colliding philosophies. That 18 Charisma makes more sense than Wave realizes. Though the whole "Enemy of the Moon" thing is definitely a long-term concern. And I do have to wonder whether Nightwing's tried to contact Luna in her dreams, assuming she can.
“They’re terrible names for a baby,” she said. “But yeah, I could see a dragon naming their kids that. We’re terrible parents.” She paused. “Don’t be a dragon.”
Be yourself. Unless you're a dragon. In which case, don't be a dragon.
I do love how certain terms end up prompting all kinds of debate about the specifics. "Harmony" and "hivemind" both have to be defined very carefully.
Oh goodness, the misinterpreted knot.
Wave's definitely making the best of a bad situation. Really, that could summarize the whole story. But I suspect this arrangement will go bad sooner rather than later. We'll see how it goes.
10517267 Oh wow. That's new in 5E. In Pathfinder, they just speak Common.
Which isn't a whole lot saner. (The 3.5e book I happen to have agrees with Pathfinder; at INT 5 they're about as bright as the chapter's snippets make them sound, but it's possible for specific humans to be stupider)
Poor Nightwing. I'm loving the story so far, and eagerly await more.

When I read the Otyugh stat block I didn't expect them to be telepathic.

I am amused that Nightwing also noted the virtual world was akin to a hivemind in certain respects. XD
This was a fun chapter. The Alpha's kind of a jerk but he's also got some decent qualities, nice to see the mix.
