Chapter 30

As the battle raged in the throne room, Twilight faced off with Starlight Glimmer herself.

"I've wanted to do this since you ruined my village!" declared Starlight.

Starlight fired a volley of magic at Twilight who blocked it with a shield.

"I had to!" declared Twilight.

"Starlight began charging up another attack.

"You where being a dictator." noted Twilight.

Starlight fired a powerful blast of magic that hit where Twilight was.

"Let's see her shield survive that." gloated Starlight.

However, the shield did just that.

"That should have wasted your shield!" exclaimed Starlight stunned.

"I'm no slouch when it comes to magic either." said Twilight.

An angry Starlight fired volley after volley after volley of magic at Twilight, but her shield held.

"At this rate she might tire herself out." thought Twilight.

Sure enough, Starlight was starting to lose stamina forcing her to stop.

"Now's my chance." decided Twilight.

Twilight made the risky move of dropping her shield.

"You idiot!" laughed Starlight.

"Starlight, you need to listen." began Twilight.

Starlight laughed coldly.

"And why would I do that?" asked Starlight.

"Because I'm trying to help you." answered Twilight.

Starlight erupted to laughter.

"That's hilarious!" declared Starlight.

Twilight didn't like this response, but chose to ignore it.

"You're mind is clearly warped and I want to help you." said Twilight.

Starlight stopped laughing and shot Twilight a deadly glare.

"Mine is the only clear mind in Equestria." spat Starlight.

"What do you have against cutie marks?" asked Twilight.

"What do you support them?" asked Starlight.

Twilight was surprised by this.

"Cutie marks are supposed to be your "special talent" but, what if it doesn't fit?" asked Starlight.

"How do you mean?" asked Twilight.

"Suppose I get a cutie mark in knitting, but I care about knitting. I'm supposed give up on my hopes and dreams to blindly follow some stupid symbol." answered starlight.

"I never thought of that." confessed Twilight.

"No surprise." muttered Starlight.

"Is that what happened to you?" asked Twilight.

"Not that..." answered Starlight solemnly.

Starlight shook her head.

"Cutie marks have been chains of bondage for generation after generation and I will liberate Equestria from them." said Starlight.

"You where clearly hurt, but you can't take it on on Equestria." said Twilight.

Starlight laughed coldly.

"Is that what you did joining Sombra?" asked Starlight.

Twilight winced.

"With all the horrible things you did for him, you're lucky to be alive." said Starlight.

Starlight glanced over at Celestia.

"Or, I guess you where saved by form of nepotism." mused Starlight.

"Leave the princess out of this!" demanded Twilight.

"Letting your emotions take control of your thought is a sign of weakness. It's no wonder I defeated her so easily." continued Starlight.

Twilight felt her anger boiling.

"I wonder have hung you from the nearest tree." spat Starlight coldly.

An angry Twilight fired a strong magical blast to Starlight who blocked it with a simple shield of her own.

"I'm far to strong for such feeble attacks to hurt me." cooed Starlight, dropping her shield.

Twilight quickly three up her shield blocking a powerful magical beam from Starlight.

"You won't stop me!" cried Starlight.

Starlight fired another powerful magical beam which Twilight blocked with her shield.

"You can't stop me!" declared Starlight.

Starlight fired another powerful magical beam which Twilight blocked with her shield.

"My revolution is unstoppable!" declared Starlight.

Starlight fired another powerful magical beam which Twilight blocked with her shield.

"You're wrong! We will stop you!" declared Twilight.

Starlight growled.

"I swear if you say you'll stop me with friendship..." began Starlight.

"With the magic of friendship!" declared Twilight.

An enraged Starlight fired a magical beam strong enough to destroy the shield.

"Twilight!" cried Sunset Shimmer horrified.

The smoke cleared and Twilight laid on her back on the floor.

"Twilight!" cried Sunset again.

Starlight laughed.

"It seems I won." said Starlight.

Twilight began to stir.

"Don't worry Sunset. I'm okay." said Twilight weakly.

"That should have killed you!" cried Starlight surprised.

Twilight weakly got up.

"I told you, I'm no push over." said Twilight.

Starlight was so enraged her neck vein was bulging.

"I was going to let you live as an Equalist but, now I'm just going to kill you!" cried Starlight.

"You crusade against cutie marks ends here!" declared Twilight.

"I removed my cutie mark and I'll rip yours off before I kill you." spat Starlight.

Hearing this brought back a memory for Fluttershy.

"Oh goodness!" gasped Fluttershy.

The Element of Kindness gulped then flew over everyone else in the room.

"Starlight Glimmer still has her cutie mark!" declared Fluttershy.

The others in the room gasped as Starlight felt her world swiftly collapse around her.

"I...uh...but..." stammered Starlight shook her head to compose herself.

"You're a liar!" declared Starlight.

"I saw it when we where trapped in your village." revealed Fluttershy.

Starlight Shimmer growled angrily.

"I knew I should have hung you!" snapped Starlight.

Fluttershy was taken aback by this.

"Don't yell at her like that just because you're lying!" exclaimed Rainbow Dash.

"I'll do what I want! I'm the ruler of Equestria!" declared Starlight.

It took a second...

"And I'm not lying!" added Starlight.

"Oh! Oh! Oh! Applejack can tell if she's lying!" exclaimed Pinkie.

"Darling...what do you think?" asked Rarity.

"She's as honest as a fruit bat in an empty apple orchard." answered Applejack.

"So...she's lying then." said Rarity confused.

"Yeah." answered Applejack.

Party Favor was so surprised, he released Double Diamond by accident who turned to Starlight.

"Ma'am, is that true?" asked Double Diamond hurt.

"Of course not. You've been my trusted lieutenant for a long time now. You should now that." answered Starlight soothing.

Double Diamond seemed to be falling for it.

"Don't listen to her! This is another lie!" cried Party Favor.

"Enough out of you!" snapped Starlight.

Nearby, Sunset Shimmer leaned over to Discord.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" asked Sunset.

Discord stroked his goatee.

"I believe I am." answered Discord.

Discord snapped his finger and a pool of water appeared above Starlight. It crashed down soaking the Equalist leader.

"We where thinking the same thing." mused Sunset.

"Just for that you're death will be slow and painful!" declared an irate Starlight.

Starlight shook her body to dry off, but something else came off too.

"So Fluttershy was lying." said Sunset gloating.

Starlight looked at her flanks and realized with horror her cutie mark was exposed.

"I told y'all she was lying." said Applejack.

"Fluttershy, you rock." said Rainbow proudly.

Fluttershy blushed.

"Thank you." said Fluttershy.

"Starlight..." began a somber Double Diamond.

Double Diamond walked up to his leader.

"You lied. This whole time you denounced cutie marks, but you never got ride of yours." said Double Diamond hurt.

"I had to. I need the magic to make the dream come true." said Starlight defensive.

"But, we have the Staff of Sameness." replied Double Diamond.

"I hate to break it to you, but Mage Meadowbrook only had eight enchanted items and there was no staff among them." revealed Twilight.

"Is this true?" asked Double Diamond heartbroken.

"Fine! It was a stupid stick I found in the desert!" confessed Starlight.

"You lied the whole time. You never wanted to get rid of cutie marks." said Double Diamond.

"But I do!" declared Starlight.

"You used us! We where just pawns to you!" declared Double Diamond.

Double Diamond felt sick.

"All the horrible things I did because of you." said Double Diamond, disgusted with himself.

Starlight growled angrily.

"Lieutenant, you are out of line." warned Starlight firmly.

Double Diamond suddenly charged and rammed right into Starlight knocking her down.

"I don't take orders from you anymore!" declared Double Diamond.

This led to cheers from the Mane 7 minus Twilight and Sunset.

"That was awesome!" Rainbow Dash.

"Ya sure showed her." said Applejack.

"I think that deserves a party." said Pinkie Pie excited.

"We'll party once this is over." said Rainbow.

"I finally woke up and realized what you had tried to warn us about." replied Double Diamond.

"And we must give credit to Fluttershy." noted Rarity.

"It was nothing." said Fluttershy humbly.

"We wouldn't have been able to expose Starlight for the liar she is if it weren't for you." noted Applejack proudly.

Fluttershy felt her cheeks go flush.

"Party Favor..." began Double Diamond meekly.

"It's fine. I just escaped her control too." said Party Favor.

Sunset Shimmer looked her her marefriend.

"Twilight..." began Sunset.

"Princess Celestia! Princess Luna!' cried Twilight.

"I'm afraid they're just standing still like statues." revealed Discord.

Discord tapped his chin.

"A bit ironic for me." added Discord.

"The Alicorn Amulet has really amped up her power more than I of they're still under her control." mused Sunset.

"What do we do?" asked Twilight worried.

"I'm sure there's an elemental solution." answered Discord.

"The Elements of Harmony!" declared the Mane 7 in unison.

A horrifying realization hit Twilight.

"Princess Celestia had them!" gasped Twilight.

"Oh come on!' cried Rainbow annoyed.

"I didn't trust myself with them." said Twilight somberly.

"Oh Twilight." replied Sunset hurting.

"They're in the vault..." began Double Diamond.

Double Diamond was suddenly knocked over. He landed with smoke coming off his side.

"Did you really think it'd be that easy?" asked Starlight.

"No way!" exclaimed Rainbow.

"That worthless idiot couldn't defeat me in his dreams." scoffed Starlight.

"He's really hurt." noted Fluttershy worried.

"My brave Lieutenant gave his life fighting for the Equalist cause. Nothing like a good martyr to rally ponies." said Starlight.

"You're sick!" spat Applejack.

Sunset noticed electricity around Starlight's horn.

"Electric magic." noted Sunset worried.

"Just like Twilight used." noted Starlight.

Twilight winced.

"And I know you used more than that." revealed Starlight.

Starlight grinned menacingly.

"And I've mastered it." added Starlight.

Twilight felt her heart skip a beat.

"You don't mean?" asked Twilight worried.

Starlight Glimmer nodded her head confirming.

"Dark magic." answered Starlight.

A/N: So, that's where we'll end things. Starlight has been exposed, but that doesn't seem to effect her at all. And now that dark magic is back on the table things will be even tougher. Next time, our hoers must stop Starlight. Please review.
