The next morning, news broke out about the Invasion of Canterlot. Hundreds of armoured ‘terrorists’ charged into the capital and began slaughtering everypony in their way. The reports said that they came out of nowhere; their intents were unknown. But, Satyrn knew why they came. After about half an hour into the attack, some Staterans were able to blow into the Canterlot Castle, but did not breach it entirely. By the end, hundreds of civilian casualties and thousands of injuries citywide had erupted into a huge lockdown. The fighting lasted for hours. Smoke from the various fires could be seen from miles away.
Satyrn was in Canterlot when it happened. Initially, she fled the city when the attack began to make sure if Canterlot was the only target. Once she confirmed that her family wasn’t in danger, she returned to deter the invaders. Though the final defense was quick to end, it didn’t do much to ease the loss on Canterlot’s end. Satyrn believed that the invasion was likely Satellite’s retaliation. Satyrn’s attempted assassination and, now, the invasion of Canterlot finally gave away Statera’s location to the world. As a result of the Canterlot Administration discovering the whereabouts of this rogue nation, orbital scans revealed that Statera was in possession of a nuclear arsenal, massive enough to wipe out the entire Crystal Empire.
So why can’t the ponies be bothered to look at their orbital scan results CAREFULLY before the invasion happens?

By that did you mean why they didn't search for Statera using orbital scans? Well the answer for this is that Equestria had no idea Statera even existed, since Satyrn hadn't given any hint to its existence either.

Bu if they had orbital scans, why wouldnt they find it before?
