Um...pretty sure you mean sapience here. All animals are already sentient, as sentience can be broken down to ‘form of conscience and/or sensory awareness’. Sapience is what we humans have, and thus separates us from animals: higher cognitive functions that give us wisdom and the urge to learn more about the greater world/universe.
