Chapter Five: Invincible

The girls were getting out their instruments, while Rainbow was pacing

"Whats the matter Rainbow?" asked Sunset

"Remember that song we're supposed to perform? it's a duet, and I need Fluttershy and a boy to sing it"

"W-What?" asked Fluttershy in alarm

"Don't worry Flutters, you'll do great," said Rainbow "We just need a guy to sing with you"

"What about Discord?He's a boy," suggested Pinkie Pie

"I don't know, I don't think he'd be interested," said Rainbow with a frown

"Actually, that sounds like fun," said a voice in the doorway, it was Discord, Fluttershy squeaked in surprise

Rainbow groaned "Fine, but only because your here" she walked up to him and gave him a paper and a microphone

"You have five minutes to rehearse, it better sound good," she said stalking off, all of her friends following her

Fluttershy was practicing her lines alone, she wasn't sounding very confident, however.There then was a knock on the door.

"Come in," she said, in walked Discord

"Hows your practice?I'd imagine it's going great for you since your such a singing sensation"

"Oh,.....it's not going well at all," she said, sitting down and ready to cry

"Oh I doubt that, I mean your voice is wonderful, I'm sure you just have a little bit of stage fright"

"Are you kidding, I'm even afraid of a spotlight, I can't do it"

"Listen, I know you can do it, I believe in you, I'll tell you what, I'll support you through the whole thing," he said putting a hand on her shoulder

"I guess it would help, but what if they laugh at me when I finish?"

"Then forget them, the ones who really matter already know that you'll do great,......like me" he smirked at the last part, Fluttershy turned to him and smiled sadly

"Thank you Discord, it really-wait, how do you know if my voice is good?"

"Umm,......I " he said rubbing the back of his neck

"Were you spying on me?"

"NO,.......okay maybe a little bit"

Fluttershy shook her head "Discord you shouldn't do that, spying can sometimes turn into stalking"

"Well to make you feel better I'd never go THAT low, and I do apologize, but I was in the woods and then I heard giggling, I followed the sound and then I heard you start to sing,........" he trailed off

Fluttershy went a deep inferno red"YOU SAW THAT?!"

"Yes,........but like I said, I apologize," he said putting on frown "But we don't have time to discuss, it's almost time for the show"

Fluttershy nodded, got up, and ran towards the door with Discord in hot pursuit

Principal Celestia tapped the mic and said

"Good evening students, as you all know, the band the rainbooms always perform every month after school, I am pleased to see that many of you have shown up, and now, I present to you, the Rainbooms" the audience cheered, until they saw the band, there was a boy, there were many whispers of "Who is that?" until Rainbow started playing the guitar, sprouted pony ears, wings, and floated into the air with a blue luminescent glow around her, Discord then began to sing

"Target on my back lone survivor lasts,
They got me in their sights.
No surrender no
Trigger fingers go,
Living the dangerous life."

Fluttershy started to tap her tambourine to the beat

"Hey, hey, hey every day when I wake,
I'm trying to get up, they're knocking me down"

With eyes closed and a frown, Fluttershy sang "Chewing me up, spitting me out"

"Hey, hey, hey when I need to be saved,
You're making me strong, you're making me stand" Discord to his and the other's surprise sprouted an enormous bat wing and bird wing, a goat horn, and deer antler, the started to rise into the air with Fluttershy by his side with pony ears, her graceful wings, and her yellow luminesent glow.

"Never will fall, never will end"

"Shot like a rocket up into the sky
Nothing could stop me tonight"

Pinkie started to play the drums while Discord sang louder

"You make me feel invincible
Earthquake, powerful,
Just like a tidal wave

You're my titanium
Fight song, raising up
Like a roar of victory in a stadium
Who can touch me 'cause I'm"

"I'm made of fire" Sang Fluttershy

"Who can stop me tonight"

"I'm hard-wired"

"You make me feel invincible" Fluttershy and Discord sang the last sentence together loudly, Pinkie then played a beat in between Discord's sentences

Invincible"

then the music went back to just Fluttershy's tambourine and rainbow's guitar

"Here we go again I will not give in
I've got a reason to fight

We might win or lose
This is the dangerous life"

the music got louder

"The bell has been rung, it's over and done"sang Fluttershy opening one eye then the other and then she smiled

"Hey, hey, hey when I need to be saved.
They counting me out, but this is my round"

"You in my corner, look at me now"

"Shot like a rocket up into the sky
Nothing could stop me tonight"

Pinkie got on the drums again

"You make me feel invincible
Earthquake, powerful
Just like a tidal wave

Fight song, raising up
Like a roar of victory in a stadium

"Who can stop me tonight"

"You make me feel invincible" Fluttershy and Discord once again sang the sentence again in unison, Discord then sang loudly

Rainbow then played a guitar solo, then Discord at first sang quietly

"You make me feel invincible"

then he sang loud and proud

(Shot like a rocket up into the sky)

Discord leaned up against Fluttershy's back, she did the same, she also had a prideful smile on her face

They landed back on the ground smiling while the crowd roared with excitement, the boys who were single in the room looked at Fluttershy, who turned her head, but came nose-to-nose with Discord, they both quickly pulled away while blushing, but they still smiled.
