Chapter 14
The Living Joke

*Location: Earth, +4 Months After Crash, Relic Hunters’ HQ*

Squiggly was sitting on the floor as he watched a wooden duck bend down as its head drank the water and floated back up, he was fixated on it.

Nekros sat with his feet up on a desk, with his eyes closed as he just sat in the silence around him, without a care in the world as he replayed the last conversation in his head.

“Right, so you’re in charge Nekros, just make sure nothing blows up and such, I don’t want to come back and find a corpse or something,” Excalibur complained as he got to the door

“Don’t worry about it and go enjoy your date, but remember, you ow me,” Nekros reminded Excalibur as he nodded and left Nekros to his own devices

“I swear, not a single bit of trust,” Nekros thought as he just sighed and continued to do nothing, for 5 seconds

*BEEP, BEEP, BEEP*

*Sigh*

Nekros got up and looked at the monitor as the Tenno alert system went off, Nekros sighed as he pulled a mic over and held the button down.

“Alright, we have a Tenno sighting, first 4 in here get to go,” Nekros said plainly as he waited, then the door swung open as a pile of Tenno landed on top each other

“Natural selection it is,” Nekros confirmed as he began to point them out “Saryn, Ash, Mag, Equinox, you 4 get moving,”

“Wait, that’s 5 not 4!” Mirage complained as some of the others agreed

“They may have two bodies, but together they make 2 so shut up and wait here for orders,” Nekros responded firmly as he turned to the 5 Tenno “5 minutes, go.”

And they were off.

*Location: Canternlot, downtown*

As the whirling engines ceased, Nekros along with the other 4 (Equinox in normal mode) they all approached the wreckage of cars as they looked for any signs of injured personal, what they got was laughing.

When they looked forward, they saw the most, badass, and totally (Awesome) warframe. He sat on a throne of cars as he held his (Rakta Dark Dagger) in his hand.

“Oh. Looks like more pests who dare challenge me?” Oberon gloated as the other tried to hold back laugher, except for Saryn and Ash who didn’t care

“We, do believe this is the funniest thing We have heard,” Equinox sputtered as they tried to hold back from laughing

“It’s sad to say that he beats Dash in cockiness,” Mag added making it even harder for them to hold back as Nekros just stared at him

“You dare doubt my power!” Oberon roared as he fired a swirling energy at them as Mag threw a rock in the way but it phased through and hit Nekros

He fell back as he impacted a car as he slowly got back up only to have his head imbedded into the car by Oberon’s foot, as he mocked him.

“Know your play, or I’ll make him an example,” He warned as they all backed off as he used his other hand to pull out a (Paracyst) and held it to Nekros’s chest

“Now bow,” He said firmly as they didn’t listen then he fired a shot as Nekros’s body jerked in pain as a small hole began to bleed out “Think I’m still bluffing?”

Equinox was the first to react as they pulled out their Ballistica and aimed for him but he put another shot through Nekros’s leg as they stopped.

“Now, be a good little freak and drop the crossbow,” Oberon teased as they slowly complied and dropped it, then Oberon felt movement

“Aww, come now, this is all part of the process, if you play nicely i-“

*Blam*

Oberon jerked back as he dropped his sidearm and saw Nekros rising to his feet as his right hand stopped glowing with energy as he grunted in anger.

“Ok, if it’s a fight you want, you’l-“

“You ruined my day off,” Nekros said simply as he upholstered his Reaper and began to walk towards the now nervous Oberon as he began to cast radiation bolts

Each one passed through a part of Nekros but only earning the slightest jerk motion as he continued his path, a dark cloud of shadows followed him as the silhouettes hovered in the darkness

“No sense, no technique, just a fool playing king, I think we’ll let our commander take this one,” Ash spoke as Saryn took a seat as patted the spot next to her as Ash complied

“So, how do you think this is gunna end?” Saryn asked as Mag joined them as she giggled

“Well if I had to guess…” Mag added as she thought about it and soon Equinox joined them as they sniggered

“Well if it doesn’t involve a sledgehammer on fire, then I don’t know?” they added with a shrug as they all watched the show

Nekros was almost face to face with him as he began to swing wildly at him only for Nekros to simply dodge the predictable attacks as he swiftly knocked the dagger from his hand as it clattered to the ground.

“Squiggly, end this,” Nekros asked as Oberon felt something tighten around his waist and turned to see Squiggly as he pulled back

Oberon was then casted around like a wild bull as he smashed into cars and the concrete below as he felt his armour and heard his armour cracking. Then the infested flung him into the air as it honked.

“Now, Neky!” He honked to Nekros as he nodded and equipped his archwing and flew above the foolish Tenno as he threw his Reaper into the sky

He then sent his thrusters downwards as his feet connected with Oberon’s chest as they broke the sound barrier over 24 times at once.

*CRASH*

When the smoke cleared everyone from people to Tenno gazed as the massive Oberon shaped hole as Nekros jumped out of it. He then held his left arm out and the Reaper popped back in from the sky as he holstered the weapon.

“I call that, Grave Digger,” Nekros said breaking the silence as people clapped and cheered as Oberon laid in his grave, unconscious as he felt a buzzing noise enter his coms

“Ok, what did you do?” A very pissed sounding Excalibur spoke

“Do you promise not to yell?” Nekros asked

“What did you do?” Excalibur asked in a more calm tone

“Ok, I was minding my own business-“

“Bullshit!” Excalibur interrupted as Nekros jumped back as Excalibur sighed “Ok you know what, just handle the damage reports and I’ll let it slide ok?”

“Sure,” He said in his normal fashion as he heard Skyler on the other side of the com

“Oh, and Skyler said if you have done 'Serious' damage you're in for it,” Excalibur said innocently as Nekros froze

“What?”

“Bye!” Excalibur said cheerfully as he ended the call and Nekros sighed

“I hate you, I hate me, I hate everything,” Nekros moaned as he felt the little freedom he had left disappear
